CITY OF OJAI HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION AGENDA Regular Meeting Thursday, August 13, 2015 A regular meeting of the Ojai Historic Preservation Commission will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the Ojai City Hall Council Chambers, 401 South Ventura Street, Ojai, California. Roll Call Pledge of Allegiance Public Communications Members of the public wishing to address the Historic Preservation Commission on items appearing on the agenda are requested to complete a “speaker’s card” and file it with the Secretary prior to the start of the Historic Preservation Commission meeting. Cards are available in the Council Chambers Lobby. All comments should be limited to three minutes, unless additional time is granted by the Chair. Speakers should state their name and address for the record and must direct their comments to the Chair, not the audience or press. While the Historic Preservation Commission is in session, members of the Commission, City staff, and members of the audience are expected to maintain order and decorum and to obey the orders of the Chair 1 . Discussion Items 3. Miscellaneous Permit (MISC 15-13) Application to designate as a Historic Landmark the “Ojai Adobe House” located at 307 and 307A E. Aliso Street, Assessor’s Parcel Number 021-0-113-110. The General Plan Land Use Designation and Zoning Classification of the property is Village Mixed-Use (VMU). Property Owner/Applicant: Robert and Tiese Quinn.

Recommendations: Conduct a workshop to discuss the landmarking process and what items are necessary to ensure a more accurate and complete record of the landmark elements including character defining elements of the proposed landmark, the Ojai Adobe House. 4.

Begin Discussion of Annual Historic Preservation Award Nominations 2015 Recommendations: 1. Review the criteria for Historic Preservation Award; and 2. Identify potential candidates for Historic Preservation Award for 2015.

Pennant Policy Recommendations: 1. Review the HPCs comments from their May 28, 2015 meeting; and 2. Forward the Pennant Policy and comments to City Council for their consideration.

Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Interpretation Plan Recommendation: Review the proposed plan in the packet and provide comments.

7.

Begin Ojai Day Planning Recommendations: 1. Review the Ojai Day Planning Checklist; and 2. Assign duties, as appropriate.

Historic Sites of Merit Expansion of List Recommendations: Discuss the Historic Preservation Commission’s goals for the Sites of Merit list to include a review of the list, expansion of the list and protections for the sites.
