Andrea Segrè is Full Professor of International and Comparative Agricultural Policy at the University of Bologna and Circular Economy at the University of Trento. Founder of the Last Minute Market, an spin off of the University of Bologna that has become a national and European excellence for the prevention and recovery of food waste. In 2010 he promoted the European awareness campaign “A year against waste/Zero Waste”, in the framework of which he created the Declaration against Food Waste whose main objective has been adopted in the report of the European Parliament's initiative approved in January 2012 in Strasbourg: the objective was to halve food waste in the Member States by 2025. In 2013 he established Waste Watcher, the first National Observatory on Household Food Waste. He promoted the Charter for Zero Waste Local Authorities, to which hundreds of Italian mayors have adhered by setting up an association called Sprecozero.net. Since October 2013 he is the coordinator of the National Plan for the Food Waste Prevention (PINPAS), established by the Minister of the Environment. In July 2014, the Minister of the Environment has appointed him as chairman of the Scientific Committee of the National Plan for the Waste Prevention. Since July 2012 he is chairman of the Agri-Food Centre of Bologna (CAAB), where he promoted together with the Municipality of Bologna and Eataly, the thematic Agro-Food Park F.I.CO (Fabbrica Italiana Contadina- Italian Farmers Factory) EatalyWorld-Bologna. Since July 2016 he is president the F.I.CO Foundation for Food Education and Sutainability. In February 2015 he was appointed President of the Edmund Mach Foundation in San Michele all’Adige (Trento). This Foundation promotes and carries out research, scientific experiments, education and training activities as well as providing technical assistance and extension services to companies. In 2012 he was awarded the Premio Pellegrino Artusi. In 2013 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the International Association for Environmental Communication, the Prize John Borghi and the Prize Vincenzo Dona. In 2014 the City of Imola awarded him the Golden Garganello.
