On a beautiful sunny day Linda Patterson-Gibson, PEIAHA Past President, Jane Harris, past PEIAHA Secretary, and Elinor MacLeod, past PEIAHA Treasurer drove to Alberton to make the official transfer of materials to the new Secretary and Treasurer of the new PEIAHA Executive from the Western Hospital Healthcare Auxiliary. Past President Linda and Norma Getson met for discussions on current matters and future plans for the new executive. Planning for the April 2012 PEIAHA Semi Annual meeting will be the first order of business for the new executive. The CAHA conference is in St John’s NL this year and the PEIAHA President and Vice President, Doreen Wooder will attend.

The PEIAHA voted at the October 2011 Annual Meeting to leave the national organization.
The PEIAHA presents a new Banner and Flag.
The PEIAHA has purchased a stand alone banner and two flags to promote the organization. They are very impressive. The banner makes a great back drop for photos.
The flags can be hung at the host executive hospital during the two year term the auxiliary hosts as the PEIAHA Executive, or any other important occasion.
The CAHA conference this year will be held May18-20. The Canadian Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries will address the changes in its membership and call for a vote to determine its future.

The cafeteria of the Prince County Hospital was transformed into a gallery of pictures and mementos, to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the PCH Auxiliary. Their service to patients and hospital was remembered fondly and revealed just how much auxiliary volunteering has changed over the years, but In October, the PCH Auxiliary sent $1000.00 to Slave Lake Auxiliary to help with the devastating the dedication has not.

EDITOR’S NOTE I have a copy of this information booklet for each Auxiliary. The links at the top will provide a PDF site that is available for everyone to read and /or print if you wish. When I obtained the booklets a year ago I had hoped to provide the information then, however other pressing matters confronted us. I was asked by my publisher contact, for feedback, as I told him I was hoping to do this in a group setting. If anyone is interested in using this, would you please contact me with your comments. I hope you find it informative. Linda Patterson-Gibson

There are a few things, which are common to all the mothers around the world. Apart from showering love and affection, mothers make it a point to keep an eye on every activity of their children- this of course arises as a result of her being too caring about her child, so that he/she is always unhurt. Here is some of the most common advice by mothers to their children: Some Motherly Advice… Always change your underwear; you never know when you'll have an accident. Don't make that face or it'll freeze in that position. Be careful or you'll put your eye out. What if everyone jumped off a cliff? Would you do it, too? You have enough dirt behind those ears to grow potatoes! Close that door! Were you born in a barn? If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

CANADA SAFETLY COUNCIL CONTINUOUS CHEST COMPRESSIONS http://canadasafetycouncil.org/safetycanada-online/article/continuous-chestcompression-cpr
As a result of recently released CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) guidelines, saving a life just became a whole lot easier. These new guidelines relate to compression only CPR, also called Continuous Chest Compression CPR. This is a hands-only CPR method that doubles a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest. This easy technique involves pressing on the chest of a person in cardiac arrest without having to provide mouth-to-mouth ventilations, making it more likely bystanders will try to help.
You can sign up and receive it on a regular basis. It offers health tips, disease information, and even recopies.
