The original building was constructed in 1923, with additions constructed in 1932, 1938, 1961, and 1973. Although the buildings are adjoining, they consist of various misaligned levels and present a number of operational challenges. The current modernization is intended to make the various buildings on campus more unified both operationally and administratively. Project Status ● Site Work Scheduled From 7/14/2017 to 7/28/2017 ○ Continuation of Auger Cast Piles - (10 remaining) ■ Auger Cast Piles​ are widely used to construct the foundations of all types of structures. ○ Begin Helical Piles ■ Helical piles​ are a factory-manufactured steel foundation system consisting of a central shaft with one or more helix-shaped bearing plates and a bracket that allows attachment to a structure. ○ Continue Installing Pile Caps (North Side) ■ A ​Pile Cap​ is a thick ​concrete​ mat that rests on concrete or timber piles that have been driven into soft or unstable ground to provide a suitable stable foundation. ○ Begin Spread Footer ■ A ​Spread Footing​ is a structural component that acts as a base for a building's foundation.

They are typically used to conceal plumbing pipes, electrical wires, duct work, or exhaust fans. ○ Continuation of Installing Interior Door Frames ○ Continuation of Exterior Repairs ○ Continuation of Interior Frame and Drywall Ceilings ○ Continuation of Blocking Windows ○ Continuation of Interior and Exterior Masonry and Concrete Repairs ○ Continuation of Roofing Demolition and Ice Water Shielding ■ Ice Water Shielding​ are roof leak barriers to help prevent wind-driven rain and melting ice and snow from leaking through the roof deck. ○ Continuation of Roofing Demolition and Ice Water Shielding ○ Continuation of Electrical Home Runs ■ Electrical Home Runs ​are electrical cables that carries power from the main circuit breaker panel to the first electrical box, plug, or switch in the circuit. ○ Continuation of Begin Rough-Ins for Plumbing Fixtures ○ Continuation of Rough-Ins for Mechanical Equipment ○ Continuation of the Layout for Mechanical Ductwork ○ Continuation of Installing Sprinklers in the Attic ○ Begin the Installation of Fan Coil Unit ○ Begin the Utility Work on Newton Street
