Mr. and Mrs. Batten pleased the audience with their artistiC selections on various instruments! such as the saxaphone, cornet, slide trombone, violin and harp. In the Swiss Bell Ringing, they were assisted by their son, who also does a clever bucl{ and wing dance on r01l,e r skates, while Mr. Batten kept the audience in continuous laughter with his black·face comedy. He retired 30 years ago after a long career of touring on vaudeville circuits as a trick performer on the trombone, violin and other musical instruments. At ODe time he also was a mem ber of the Barnum & Bailey Circus band. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bertha Batten.

Not content with being a virtuoso on several musical instruments. "Bill" Batten a few years ago determined to learn to play two or more instruments at the same time. Show Success The first "family night" show members of Cla usen-Worden of the Amer ican Legion brought approximately 1,2 00 persons to Roosevelt fieldhouse for a' 2- hour vaudeville show which was a booming success, part icu l arly the children.
