Busan International Foreign School, founded in 1983, offers a university preparatory curriculum for mainly expatriate and some national students. English is the language of instruction for all students Preschool through Grade 12. High school students at BIFS participate in the MYP curriculum in Grades 9-10 and may pursue the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Grades 11-12. BIFS is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS). SCHOOL CALENDAR
This is the first year BIFS will use the trimester system. First Trimester: August 11th - October 21st Second Trimester: October 24th - January 20th Third Trimester: January 23rd - April 24th There are approximately 36 weeks (180 days) in the school year.
GRADING SYSTEM
Grades reported on the BIFS transcript are based on the IB 1-7 grading scale. Starting in the 2016-2017 school year, BIFS will no longer report GPA.
