PEACE IS THE FIRST THING HING THE ANGELS SANG ~ JOHN KEBLE

REMINDERS

International Peace Day by Mr. Peter Sloan On Wednesday 21st September students at the EPC celebrated the International Day of Peace. We have a 'Hands Up for Peace', "Viele Hände schaffen Frieden", "La paix à portée de main" display on the windows. Each class made good use of a tray of white paint, so that each student could leave a painted handprint on the windows. We have small handprints down low and larger handprints up high! We asked all Primary students and staff to wear a white top to school for a group photo in the junior playground at 10:10am. This year, we were more ambitious than previously and formed the shape of a heart in the junior playground with 1,000 students from all Sections of the Primary campus. In addition to the photograph we made a stop motion film, you can see this at the link below. Many thanks to our teachers Mr. Kirt and Mr. Mondal, who created the movie, to Ms. Spring of the French Section, who coordinated the event and to Y6, K4 and CM2 children who formed the outline of the heart.

On Friday 30th there will be a tri-Section student led assembly, when students from each Section will review some of the activities that took place in their Sections and we will share the video of the morning. The action of celebrating this day gives us the opportunity to talk to children about what peace really means, to think about the values that are important in each of our lives and to identify ways in which we can make a positive contribution to our community and the world about us.

Here is a wonderful video made by Mr. Dipak Mondal and Mr. Dean Kirt: http://gg.gg/2016InterPeaceDayFull

What’s happening in the Parent’s Lounge? by Mr. Peter Sloan

We will shortly be renaming ‘The Parent’s Café’ as ‘The Parent’s Lounge’. This recognises the fact that it is no longer the caféé that we know and loved when Lutetia were based here. As you know, for legal reasons, we are no longer able to sell food and drink, however we do want to ensure that our parent community get a positive use out of the newly named ‘Parent's Lounge’. Set outt below are details of how we will be managing the room from now on. If you have any suggestions that would add to the Parent's Lounge experience, please pass them on to your PTA representatives or get in touch with me directly. The Lounge is open for general ral parent use every day between 8.00 8.00am and 9.00 am and 2.30pm and 4.00pm 4.0 with coffee/tea provided by the school as it is now. Outside of these hours the Lounge will be a bookable space that can only be booked for use by the PSC or by any of our three se section PTAs. Our Art Teacher, Mr. Eamonn O’Callaghan, has ccreated an EPC Gallery that will feature work from children in all three sections. In addition to regular displays we will also be holding exhibitions to showcase our children’s art. While the Parent’s t’s Lounge may no longer offer walnut croissants or tuna baguettes, we hope it will remain a thriving and well-used well centre for our EPC Community.

EYFS Parents Workshop by Mr. Duncan Millward Yesterday, Jennie Bonnalie and Sophie Hockey, our Curriculum Leaders in Foundation ation Stage, delivered an overview of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum. Thank you to all of the parents that came along and participated.
