Media Release (For Immediate Release) March 15, 2017 The Alberta Sport Development Centre – Central (ASDC-C) is pleased to announce that the ASDC-Central Male Athlete of the Month for March 2017 is Brandon O’Connell. Brandon O’Connell, is a 16 year old Red Deer resident, a Grade 10 student at Hunting Hills High School and a competitive speed skater, basketball player and mountain biker. As a speed skater, Brandon competed at the 2014 and 2016 Alberta Winter Games and represented Team Alberta at Canadian Short Track Championships in 2013 and at the 2016 and 2017 Canadian Long Track Championships. Brandon played for basketball for the Hunting Hills on the grade 9 team as well as the JV team this year and competed in the 2016 Alberta Summer Games in Mountain Biking. An Honors Student at Hunting Hills, Brandon aspires to become an Engineer and plans to continue with all three sports for as long as he can in high school, with the ultimate goal of representing Canada in the Winter Olympics. Brandon’s athletic gifts and desire to excel along with his training experiences with ASDC-Central will only see him continue to grow and develop in his sporting career!
