BLIS Foundation Launches Surgeons Association BLIS Surgeons Association (BSA) unites BLIS approved surgeons to improve surgical outcomes through a unique data experience and surgeon interaction.
PORTLAND, July 1, 2014 – On June 27 the BLIS Foundation launched the BLIS Surgeons Association (BSA) exclusively for BLIS surgeons. The BSA is a service of the BLIS Foundation which is managed by BLIS and operates as a membership organization that empowers members to leverage their BLIS experience in order to amplify their impact on surgical outcomes. Members receive access to what will eventually become a variety of benefits that reward and encourage BLIS surgeons to continue to strive for exceptional patient care. There is no cost to enroll for all approved and active BLIS surgeons. To begin the application process, BLIS surgeons should go to www.blisfoundation.org/bsa. Member benefits initially are delivered through two programs: BLIS Data Exchange (BLIS DX) and BLIS Merchant Advocate (BLIS MA). A third program, the BLIS Data Registry (BDR), is due to rollout in the fall of 2014. BLIS DX is a data exchange and financing fee reimbursement program available only to active members of the BSA. With active membership and financed cases covered by BLISCare complication protection, BLIS surgeons who are BSA members can receive reimbursement of patient financing fees they incurred.

BLIS MA is designed to help the BSA member ensure that they have the best possible credit card merchant services rate. BLIS MA will examine surgeons’ most recent merchant services statement and advise the BSA member on potential savings. BLIS has been working with Merchant Advocate for several months conducting pilot programs. Results are encouraging with several BLIS surgeons already realizing savings of several hundred dollars. The BLIS Data Registry will use the latest in technology to foster BLIS surgical complication event data sharing and collaboration in a secure, private online community. This is an analytical and information portal for BLIS surgeons. BLIS surgeons will have access to four distinct components of the BDR: • BLIS complication event data • BLIS covered case and complication statistical data in an easy to use, downloadable format • Collaboration with other BLIS surgeons in an online forum • Video library of cases, techniques, devices and more More information about the BLIS Surgeons Association, how to become a member and the benefits of membership can be found at www.blisfoundation.org/bsa.
