Asalaamalekum and hello! thank you for your interest in joining our Troop. I would like to welcome you to Troop 99, and the members of our Troop collectively look forward to making it a great scouting experience for you InshaAllah. Additionally, you may also review the checklist below to understand our Troop's requirements, and complete the necessary forms. 1. Fill out the required application (Select the Adult and Youth) forms. The adult application needs to be completed on the 3 part hard copy form and needs to be requested by sending a message to
[email protected]. Note: please ensure that your child meets the Boy Scouts requirements (http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/BoyScouts/ AdvancementandAwards/joining.aspx) to join Troop 99. If your child does not meet the requirements at the present time, Islamic Center of Naperville also offers the Cub Scouts Program via Pack 99. Please send an email message to
[email protected] for further information on joining Pack 99 2. Provide us your email address so that you may begin receiving Troop announcements (including meeting and activity times), as well as for setting up user access to the Troop's website. It is preferable to have separate emails for the adult and the scout to ensure communication being received in a timely manner. Once the account is created on the Troop site, the scout and adult receive email notification with the login ID and password 3. Attend Troop meetings. The Boy Scouts meet on Sundays at 11:30 AM through 1:00 PM CST, unless notified of cancellations. We are also off for IPSD holidays 4. 5. Cost of Troop Membership - Make a $110 check payable to Troop 99, or use the free Chase Quick Pay service and use
[email protected] for recipient (This includes $120 registration with Troop 99 minus $10 for the Boy Scout Handbook cost). The $110 is an annual membership fee, of which $50 ($25 for scout/$25 for parent where parent is a committee member) is paid to BSA and the remaining $60 is used for Troop's administrative expenses. Please note - during the course of a year, the Troop organizes various activities, these activities have their associated costs which are over and above the membership dues. These activities are not mandated by the Troop 6. Cubs bridging over to Boy Scouts: Youth and adults are required to fill out new BSA applications. On the form you should mark “transfer.” There is a $1.00 transfer fee from Pack to Troop. The annual dues for the Troop apply as mentioned in #5 above 7. Youth Protection Training - It is a BSA mandatory requirement that all adult members in a Troop comply with the youth protection training requirements. Orientation for Boy Scout and Adults/Parents - The world of Boy Scouting can seem strange and confusing to new parents, even those who have been involved in Cub Scouting or who were Boy Scouts themselves. Click here to review! this presentation from BSA which is designed to draw new parents into the troop experience and give you the information needed to enjoy the program and help your son succeed. In addition, Troop 99 has developed on-demand training material which is geared towards making it easier for Troop membership in understanding the goals of Scouting, as well as how to manage your scouting experience being part of Troop 99 9. Adult Members are required to actively participate in the Scouting Program. Our Troop plans at least 10 camping events a year, and the adult members are (click to sign up for supporting an events) required to participate as follows: A. Event Sponsorship – oversee the planning of at least 1 event and be the go-to adult for SPL/ASPL B. Driver to/from Events – commit to driving to/from at least 2 events C. Please send completed forms to Troop 99 Adult Leadership via e-mail at
[email protected], and give the applicable fee mentioned above during the weekly Troop Meetings at ICN Ogden, or you can electronically pay via Chase Quick Pay service. Since the adult application is a three part form, the hard copy of the form needs to be either mailed to ICN Ogden or submitted in person during the weekend meetings. Best regards,
