BUDERIM bush telegraph ... Coming to you on behalf of the 57th Aussie National Publicity mob.
LA T JU E L 2O Y 15
COOEE!!! Is a shout used in Australia, usually in the bush, to attract attention, find missing people, or indicate one’s own location. When done correctly, loudly and shrilly - a call of ‘Cooee’ can carry over a considerable distance. It carried well when I used it in New York, USA. The word ‘Cooee’ originates from the Dharruk language of the original inhabitants of the Sydney, NSW area. It means ‘come here’ and has now become widely used in Australia as a call over distances. So to you ALL - COOEE! Come to Buderim, Qld in 2016 and let’s all have a BONZA Convention. Are you all ears ’cause we need more of you cobbers who are all wool and a yard wide (authentic: trustworthy) and are a ball of muscle to come, dance sit and yarn with us. So stop bumping ya gums (talking too much) and go round up some more Aussie Explorers and tell them to put their mark on the registration form (downloadable from the Website, and cough up some dollars and ‘they are in like Flynn’. Be there and be in a square! Want some more ideas for the theme night?? You could come as a KINGAROY NUT! Perhaps a MACADAMIA NUT?! How about a GUMNUT? Weren’t those fabulous Gumnuts created by May Gibbs just the ants pants? I reckon if you put your thinking cap on you could whip up a great outfit. Mind though, you would look a little like mutton done up as lamb. But that’s OK. Strewth, at the end of the day we SQUARE DANCERS all love to dress up. Just come as a Pavlova! Put on your Akubra or give the Drizabone an airing. Have a ‘captain cook’ in your wardrobe I’m sure some Aussie households have Crocodile Dundee clobber. You could come as a woolly sheep!! Go catch a few waves on the way to the Convention—plenty of Coastline, not too far away from BUDERIM, and rated as some of the best Surfing possible - GO HANG 10! Yep! There’s more ... Turn the page
PARKING .... The USC is a regulated parking area. Charges apply Mon to Frid 8 am to 6pm all year. DO NOT PARK in these marked places, instead take advantage of the FREE PARKING at car park 15 off Claymore Road and the adjacent Chancellor College. Put that in your memory box as we don’t want you to get pinged.

QANTAS RETURNS TO THE SUNSHINE COAST AFTER 10 YEAR BREAK ... MAJOR BOOST FOR BUSINESS, CONFERENCE, PREMIUM LEISURE TRAVEL and SQUARE & ROUND DANCERS & CLOGGERS!!! After an absence of more than a decade, Qantas will recommence regular air services into Sunshine Coast Airport, with the airline announcing they would fly between Sydney and the Sunshine Coast six days a week from December 2015. Speaking of planes, and I get off the track a little here... Our guest round dance Cuer/Teacher, Randy Preskitt worked at the Boeing company on the 767 before retiring. He possibly would love a bit of a yarn about planes ... that is in between talking telemarks, mini telespins, feathers, etc. The ‘fair dinkum’ management team hope you are enjoying these BBT’s. The next edition will be out early September. Carol Simondson, 57th National Convention Publicity Officer.
