CARDINGTON-LINCOLN LOCAL SCHOOLS REPORT CARD HIGHLIGHTS
The release of the 2016 report card has sparked some concerns about achievement in ALL of Ohio’s schools. In terms of measures of academic achievement, 513 of the State’s 609 districts scored either a D or an F in the “Indicators Met” grade. This indicator directly speaks to the percentage of students who scored proficient in State assessments. For example, on 54% of the State’s 3rd grade students scored proficient or higher on the English Language Arts (ELA) Assessment. The State Board of EducaBon set the percentages needed to reach the indicator earlier in the year. For schools to meet the indicator in 3rd Grade ELA, 68% of their students would need to score proficient or higher. Of the 23 test areas here in Cardington (excluding the 11th Grade OGT), the STATE average on the assessment only exceeded the State Board’s threshold in ONE test.
ENCOURAGING NEWS
In the Value Added Component, known as PROGRESS, the District received it’s first ever “A” raNng. The progress component measures students’ growth from year to year. This marks a significant turnaround for our district. Cardington was the only district in Morrow County to score an “A” on this component.
The District exceeded the STATE average score in 13 of its 23 tests. The Green indicates that we met the indicator. Assessment
