PURON® HF System to Expand Drinking Water Treatment Plant in Sao Paulo Koch Membrane Systems was awarded a contract to expand conventional treatment facility providing drinking water to the City of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The new KMS system consists of a submerged UF system utilizing the PURON® HF submerged modules. The system treats raw reservoir water. The system is designed to produce 2,000 lps (7,200 m3/hr) in two phases. © 2013, Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. All rights reserved.
PURON® HF System to Expand Drinking Water Treatment Plant in Sao Paulo KMS Scope of supply included -
Membrane modules and connection kits Engineering package Sequence of operation and controls program Technical services and commissioning supervision
The startup of the first 1,000 lps system was completed successfully in January 2015. The system consistently produces the required capacity to help relieve the drought conditions in the Sao Paulo metropolitan area. Project general contractor: Centroprojekt do Brazil

Existing WTP – Alto Da Boa Vista (ABV) Existing System: The existing treatment plant treats reservoir water via coagulation, clarification and sand filtration. Existing plant capacity: 15,000 lps (54,000 m3/hr)
The challenge: The demand for drinking water in the city of
Sao Paulo continues to increase. The ABV plant cannot expand its clarifiers and sand filters due to space limitations. The plant management was looking for a way to add 2,000 lps (7,200 m3/hr) water production using minimal footprint.
The solution: Install a submerged UF PURON® HF system in a small area on the side of the existing plant
