Comprehension Passages For Guided Reading by Regina Davis
I made these comprehension sheets for my students to practice for an upcoming multiple choice question/answer type test at the end of the school year. I want them to feel confident when that time comes. I will make 3 versions of comprehension sheets per theme. The mid-level and the advanced sheets use the same question/answer sheet. Either copy the question/answer sheet onto the back of the reading sheet you choose to use for your students, or just copy it separately so that students can look at the reading passage and the multiple choice answers at once. I specifically used larger print to help my students feel more comfortable reading the passages. Happy Teaching! Regina Davis

It was a cold, wet day. The children did not go out. The Cat in the Hat went to the house. He wanted to do tricks and play. The fish did not like him. He had two things called Thing One and Thing Two. They liked to fly kites in the house. The Cat in the Hat was able to clean up the house before the children’s mother got home.

He thought that the Cat in the Hat should not be at their home if the children’s mother was not at home. The Cat in the Hat did not listen to the fish. The Cat in the Hat wanted to play games and do tricks. He brought his two things, Thing One and Thing Two. His two things jumped out of a red box. Thing One and Thing Two wanted to have fun. The fish did not like them either. Thing One and Thing Two flew kites in the house and made a bigger mess. The fish was not happy. The Cat in the Hat was able to clean the house before the children’s mother got home. The children’s mother never saw the Cat in the Hat.
