Job Description - President & CEO The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Title: President & Chief Operating Officer Reports to: Board of Directors Function: Chief Executive Officer charged with the vision, management, and positioning in the community of the business and professional organization. Duties: Leadership - Develop and implement the organization’s priority projects, programs and member services, taking into consideration the Board of Directors’ short term goals and long term vision for the organization and the community. Assist the Board in the creation and implementation of public policy. Coordinate, motivate and direct The Chamber’s financial and human resources to meet the goals of the organization. Finance – Develop, with the assistance of the Treasurer and Director of Finance, the annual estimate of income, expenditures and cash flow projections. Supervise budget and cash flow controls; approve all checks and purchase requests; maintain supervision of all expenditures. Strategic Planning & Services – Facilitate the development of Chamber goal setting and long range planning. Recommend proposals for new programs and the elimination of existing ones when necessary. Initiate new Chamber services and identify potential profit centers. Seek at all times to improve the administrative quality of the organization; monitor successful programs in the Chamber of Commerce industry and in other organizations for application in Montgomery County. Communication – Serve as liaison and spokesman for The Chamber with the Chamber membership, the media, government and regulatory entities, economic and community development agencies, and associations at the local, state and national levels. Serve on on appropriate boards, committees and task forces representing the organization. Technology – Ensure that The Chamber is up to date on ever-changing technology and that it serves to meet the needs of the members and staff. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and possess general internet and social media skills. Record-keeping/Reporting – Serve as secretary to the Board of Directors with supervision of notices, agendas and minutes of meetings. Serve as a non-voting member of the Executive committee, Board of Directors, Economic Development Partnership and all teams, projects and task forces. Personnel – Employ, discharge and supervise all employees of The Chamber, including compensation, annual employee evaluations and job descriptions. Encourage employee training, continuing education and goal setting to assist personnel to meet individual goals. Status: Full Time Educational Requirements/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or higher/10+ years business experience preferred. Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
