Preparing Scholars to succeed in competitive colleges and empowering them to use public policy to create a more just, free, and equal world. CURRENT VO LUNTEER OPPO RTUNITIES:
Thesis Adviser Program
The Thesis Adviser Program (TAP) supports seniors taking Senior Thesis, a year-long course that requires them to complete a 10-20 page Thesis paper and PowerPoint presentation. Seniors research a current public problem, evaluate current policy responses to the problem, and develop policy solutions that would better address it. TAP assigns seniors to volunteer advisers who provide rem ote feedback on Google Drive throughout the school year. TAP Advisers support students’ academic and professional growth by modeling professional email communication and by being a thought partner for seniors researching complicated policy issues. To ensure all Seniors are matched to an Adviser, we need 130 volunteers to join this effort!! To learn m ore or to register as an Adviser, please contact Erik Jones:

Professionalism Day Juniors at Chavez Schools are required to complete a 3-week internship at the end of the school year. In preparation for the experience, community members provide feedback on their resumes and help them practice their interview skills during Professionalism Day. Professionalism Day can be hosted at YOUR OFFICE!! Groups of students have participated in Professionalism Day at Accenture, Deloitte, HSBC Bank USA, National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, and the US State Department. Hosting Professionalism Day is a great way to give back without leaving your office, while simultaneously providing our students with an opportunity to get a first look at different careers. To learn more about how to be a Host for Professionalism Day, contact Stephanie Remick:
