GoTonight Community Music Activist Information The CMA Role Earn “fun money” and sales commissions while enjoying the energy of the local live music scene! GoTonight helps people find live music in their area every day, and CMAs are our visible presence in person and on social media. Successful CMAs are cheerful and ever-present supporters of their local live music scene. They enjoy making and keeping friendly relationships with venues and artists, helping collect and spread music information. CMAs choosing to participate as a hobby earn a commission for shows posted in GoTonight’s system; CMAs with skills and an interest in sales earn a commission on sales of banner ads and show highlighting. CMAs must have transportation, internet access, and communication and computing devices sufficient to find and enter show information while at a desk, and to demonstrate the GoTonight website and mobile app while on the road. CMA Commissions CMAs take responsibility for a small or large group of local bars and restaurants hosting live music, and earn a commission for making sure those venues have their shows posted in GoTonight. CMAs receive a 20 cent commission for each show posted by themselves or by artists and, because venue participation is critical, a higher 30 cent commission for shows entered by venues. They also earn a generous 50% commission for advertisements sold. Satisfied CMAs are naturally energized by local live music and have fun promoting GoTonight’s role while out listening to music and socializing. They have spare time, are persistent in their efforts, and enjoy using the internet socially (e.g., Facebook) and to find and enter local live music show information. CMAs successful at sales often have prior experience selling independently, and receive priority in reaching out to venues, artists, and businesses. GoTonight Background While there are dozens of websites and mobile apps listing places to go, local artists playing in neighborhoods across the country are not well-covered by anyone. With thousands of constantly changing shows every week, the best fans could hope for has been irregular information posted sporadically, late or not at all, in a variety of different places, by people with more important things on their minds. Under these conditions crowdsourcing is not effective – listing only a small percentage of shows. And under these conditions traditional business economics are not workable – paying market wages to populate a hyper-local entertainment site like GoTonight is too expensive for the limited revenue generated. GoTonight’s approach is a hybrid that might be called assisted crowdsourcing. We are asking music lovers across the country to help promote local live music for enjoyment and a bit of fun money. These “Community Music Activists” have substantial freedom to help populate GoTonight when, where, and how they want, engaging venues and artists in the process. Everyone has the benefit of the helpful GoTonight team, materials, and online systems. And anyone wishing to sell promotional services earns a bigger slice of fun. Our goal is to expand and make all our information inexpensively available to all other websites and apps, such that everyone always knows who is playing down the street, and can answer the question, where will we go tonight?
