Colorado Gives Day 2013 Giving Report Introduction Community First Foundation created Colorado Gives Day to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. Launched in 2010, Colorado Gives Day has consistently exceeded expectations and broken records year after year. In 2013, the number of donations through the ColoradoGives.org website increased by 28 percent with a 15 percent increase in the number of participating nonprofits over 2012. Total dollars distributed to 1,442 nonprofits (of 1,449 participating) reached $20.9 million, a 33 percent increase over 2012. Corporate partner FirstBank, seven media partners (see back page) and more than a 1,400 nonprofits joined together to ask Coloradans to “Give where you live” on December 10, 2013. FirstBank contributed $600,000 to be used for the FirstBank Incentive Fund ($250,000), third-party processing fees ($250,000) and prizes ($100,000). In addition, all third-party processing fees were paid by Community First Foundation, FirstBank, and 10 local businesses and foundations, so that 100 percent of every donation benefited the participating nonprofits. New this year was additional cash prize money for nonprofits from FirstBank, a media campaign prize from Colorado Public Television (CPT12—Channel 12) and $44,000 that benefitted nonprofits outside of the Denver metro region. See page 6 for details.
