Colorado Gives Day 2011 Giving Report Introduction Colorado Gives Day is an initiative of Community First Foundation to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. Launched in 2010 with remarkable success, the second annual Colorado Gives Day did not disappoint. In fact, the number of donations through the GivingFirst.org website increased by 160% with a 73% increase in the number of participating nonprofits. Total dollars distributed to 928 nonprofits reached $12.8 million, a 46% increase over 2010. Corporate partner FirstBank, seven media partners (see last page) and hundreds of nonprofits joined together to ask Coloradans to “give where you live” on December 6, 2011. The event was extended to noon on December 7, resulting in a total of 36 hours of online giving. FirstBank contributed $500,000 to be used for the FirstBank Incentive Fund ($300,000), third-party processing fees ($140,000) and “High Five” prizes ($60,000). In addition, all third-party processing fees were paid for by FirstBank, Community First Foundation and ten Colorado foundations, so that 100% of every donation benefited the participating nonprofits. New this year was the addition of two types of prizes. Bonus Bucks gave local businesses an opportunity to show their support, and provided 36 donors with an additional $1,000 to add to their randomly selected donations. FirstBank’s new High Five prizes awarded 12 nonprofits $5,000 each for their remarkable achievements in four performance categories: 1. Most dollars raised, 2. Most donors, 3. Largest percent increase in dollars over Colorado Gives Day 2010, and 4. Most dollars raised through GivingFirst Fundraising Pages.
