8th Grade Band Night!! Greetings from Sherando High School! We are very pleased to host our 2nd Annual 8th Grade Band Night. The general purpose is to let students and parents get an idea of how much fun and excitement that high school band o≄䕈ers to its members. We hope to see every single 8th grade band member come to share an evening of great food, football, and fun with a LOT of other band members! Some basic information about the Sherando 8th Grade Band Night: ● The date of this event will be September 23rd, 2016. This is a home football game at SHS, versus Je≄䕈erson HS. ● All 8th grade students, including woodwinds, brass, percussion, and COLOR GUARD are invited to join us! ● Sign up for the event through your director, and make sure to ᇲ⎚ll out any permission slips that they or your school might require. ● 8th grade students will receive a free “tailgate” style dinner before the football game begins! They will also march down into the stadium with us before kicko≄䕈, play with us in the stands, and see our halftime performance of our 2016 Marching Show, titled “The Sights of the Sahara.” ● All 8th Grade students admission will be FREE! (Parents who are attending are asked to purchase their tickets for the game.) ● 8th grade students will be able to meet members of their future sections in the band at Sherando, which will signiᇲ⎚cantly ease their transition into our high school! Also included with this letter is an approximate schedule outline for the event. We are very excited to host this event for you for the ᇲ⎚rst time, and we look forward to you eventually joining our program and family here at Sherando! Schedule: 8th Grade Band Night September 23rd, 2016 4:00pm4:30pm – Students arrive at Sherando High School (students/parents provide their own transportation) 4:30pm – All students find their section areas in the band room for short rehearsal 4:40pm – Rehearsal in band room for all students 5:00pm – Dinner (provided for all students, courtesy of the SHS Band Boosters!) 5:45pm – High School students, get into uniforms 6:15pm – Music Warmup outside of the band room (all students) 6:35pm – Line up for march down to the stadium 6:45pm – March down to the stadium 7:00pm – Star Spangled Banner/Kickoff! (approximate) 8:15pm – Sherando HS Marching Band halftime show performance (approximate) **After halftime, 8th grade students are permitted to leave with their parents if they wish. However, you are also welcome to stay for the entire game with us if you would like!** 9:30pm – End of football game, march back to band room (approximate) 9:45pm – All students dismissed
