Core Council Application Process This document has the required duties and application questions for all Core Council positions. If applying for more than one position, please rank your preferences. All Core Council members are required to take Leadership class for one semester. You will also attend weekly meetings and be active in student government projects and events. Applications are due Friday, May 4th. Please print out a hard copy and deliver it to Ms. Stone (B4). Selection will be based on your application, teacher/staff input and feedback, as well as admin input and approval. If you are selected for Core Council, please plan to attend an Ethical Leadership Conference on Thursday, May 31st.

Athletics Commissioner Duties Plans three intramural sport activities (fall, winter, spring) Attends all Raider Athletic Booster Club (RABC) meetings to represent CV student athletes. Updates the Activities Board (in Main Hall) every Monday morning. Attends all CV Coaches meetings to represent CV student athletes. Works with coaches and parents to promote sportsmanship. Reports RABC and coaches meetings to Core Council. Works in close connection with the Spirit Commissioner. Serves as a member of Core Council, attends all Core Council and Student Council meetings. What new and innovative ideas will you bring to Core Council and CV? 4. Why do you want to be Athletics Commissioner?
Spirit Commissioner Duties Implements various ways to boost school spirit. Informs students of upcoming activities. Assist in maintaining Raider Pride Points. Updates the Activities Board (in main hall) every Monday morning. Informs students of their classmates’ accomplishments. Serves as a member of Core Council, attends all Core Council and Student Council meetings. Assists in the creation of fall spirit shirts. Application Questions 1. Why do you want to be Spirit Commissioner? 2. What new ideas do you have to increase spirit at Crescent Valley? 3. What are some new ways you could use to advertise sporting events at CV? 4. What are some ideas you have to increase attendance at games and activities other than the most popular ones?
Technical Coordinator Duties Manage announcement TV in senior hallway Plays music in the quad at lunch Runs tech and set-up for assemblies and events Advises Core Council and Student Council on technical matters Serves as a member of Core Council, attends all Core Council and Student Council meetings. Application Questions 1. Why do you want to be technical coordinator? 2. Discuss past experiences that make you qualified for the position.
Secretary/Historian Duties Takes notes at every meeting, highlighting important decisions and projects. Sends out minutes to remind members what was discussed at meetings and the projects that need to be completed. Serves as a member of Core Council, attends all Core Council and Student Council meetings. As secretary, attendance at every meeting is crucial. Maintains current records of school activities, including: academic achievement, clubs, theatrical productions, community service, special events, athletics, and general news related to CV. Frequently attends a variety of events involving Crescent Valley students in order to document the events. Application Questions

Treasurer/Club Commissioner Duties Transfers Student Council funds to clubs. Maintains contact with Bookkeeper. Keeps track of Student Government budget. Plans and executes club fair twice a year (once in the fall, once in the spring.) Oversees the club registration process. Work with Publicity Commissioner to update Club display case on a monthly basis. Maintains communication with club presidents. Serves as a member of Core Council, attends all Core Council and Student Council meetings. Application Questions 1. Why do you want to be treasurer/club commissioner? (more questions on next page) 2. As treasurer, you must be organized and responsible. Discuss traits you possess that will help you be an effective treasurer. 3. How will you keep Core Council and Student Council informed of the budget? 4. What are some new ideas to increase attendance and participation at the Club Fair? 5. How will you better advertise club events and meetings to the student population?
Publicity Coordinator Duties Advertises various school events to increase participation. Makes and designs posters to display at school. Makes and distributes bi-weekly Potty Papers. Work with Leadership class to maintain and update the monthly event display case. Work with Club Commissioner to update Club display case on a monthly basis. Makes weekly announcements during Tuesday advisor and during assemblies. Reminds members of Core Council and Student Council meetings. Works in close connection with Media Coordinator. Serves as a member of Core Council, attends all Core Council and Student Council meetings. Application Question 1. Write 1-2 paragraphs explaining why you would like the position of Publicity Coordinator. Include any relevant previous experience and at least one new idea to increase awareness of events at our school. Example: creating a reusable student council poster to hang before monthly meetings.

Equity Commissioner Duties Advocates for respect for all students at Crescent Valley. Collaborates with clubs and groups with a focus on equity and diversity. Plans and organizes at minimum one large CV Unity/Equity event per semester. Serves as a member of Core Council, attends all Core Council and Student Council meetings. Application Question Write 1-2 paragraphs explaining why you would like the position of Equity Commissioner. Include any relevant previous experience and at least one new idea to create unity and inclusion at CV.
Social Media Coordinator Duties Makes weekly announcements during Tuesday advisor and during assemblies. Run the school’s Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat accounts. Work with the Spirit Commissioner to maintain Raider Pride Points. Coordinate with CVTV to include school events in the weekly announcements. Assist in other Core Council projects where needed. Serves as a member of Core Council, attends all Core Council and Student Council meetings. Application Question 1. Please list all of the extracurricular activities you have been involved with. Since the social media coordinator needs to be connected with school life, the applicant must be outgoing and involved with school life. 2. List ideas for work or projects that the Social Media Coordinator could handle throughout the year. Anything new and progressive is encouraged. 3. What is your philosophy on who will be featured and included in CV social media features and posts? For example, if you are a senior, how do you plan to make sure freshman are represented?
