Digital Research Project Wiki Pages and Multigenre Elements 10th Literature/Composition Lester and Hamilton, April 2011 Checklist of Tasks ________1. Create a Google Doc for your assigned section of the research project. Be sure to share your document with your group members for editing purposes. Please see page 3 of your instruction packet (also available on the research pathfinder at LibGuides) for the list of pages that should be in your wiki. ________2. Each section of your group wiki page should be composed and edited in Google Docs. Do not post on the corresponding wiki page until the Google Doc version has been carefully proofread and approved as “ready to post” by your fellow group members. ________3. Copy and paste the text from the Google Doc of your section into the appropriate/corresponding page on your group’s wiki. If you need help cleaning up the formatting of the text, ask Ms. Hamilton for help. ________4. Remember that for each page in the wiki, the person in charge of the page should incorporate multimedia relevant to the big ideas/information on that page. Decide what multimedia you would like to include (at least one) on your wiki page(s). The multimedia may include: A. a news video that you can embed on the page B. a copyright friendly photo (using the Advanced Search/Creative Commons Flickr pool (see pathfinder a tab and instructions if needed). You can 1. Download the photo and then upload into the page; link back to the photo and add a caption. 2. Use the HMTL code for the photo and embed the photo directly Ms. Hamilton can assist with these tasks if needed. C. Create ONE “presentation zen” style PowerPoint slide (ONE) using a copyright friendly photo (again, Advanced Search/Creative Commons Flickr pool) and incorporate a relevant/significant nugget of a quote. We will save the slide as a .jpg file and embed as a photo.

________5. Our multigenre elements resource page will be posted by Monday, April 25. Review the menu of multigenre elements (see page 4 of your research packet) and decide which one you want to create to best represent the key learnings/insights/ideas of the information on your wiki page. Create the multigenre element. Ask Ms. Hamilton or Ms. Lester for help if needed. _________6. Embed the multigenre element on the page. Ask Ms. Hamilton for help if needed. _________7. Look at each parenthetical reference. Please hyperlink each source represented in the parenthetical reference. Ask Ms. Hamilton for help if needed. _________8. Last step: at the top of each page, include: A. Title/Topic (example: Defining the Issue) B. Author’s Name (first name and last initial only please; if more than one person composed the document/page, please include multiple names).

Final Steps for the Group: _______1. One group member will need to copy and paste in the final group Works Cited page. _______2. Why This Issue Matters: each group member should compose a paragraph to explain why he/she believes this issue matters. A. These paragraphs may be composed collaboratively in Google Docs and then copied/pasted into the corresponding wiki page. B. No multimedia or multigenre elements are needed. C. Each group member should put his/her first name and last initial only above his/her paragraph. D. Please separate each paragraph with the gray horizontal ruler bar. _________3. Dear Reader Letter---you only need ONE letter from the group; this is to be posted on the main page of your group wiki (see template at http://samplewikifiedresearch.wikispaces.com/) A. B. C. D.

Compose as a group together in a shared Google Doc. Proofread and edit carefully. Copy/paste into the appropriate placeholder on your wiki page. Ask for help if you need assistance with the formatting.
