PLACER UNION HIGH SCHOOL JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Director of Child Nutrition Services Job Purpose Statement/s: The job of "Director of Child Nutrition Services” is done for the purpose/s of planning, organizing, and directing the District’s Child Nutrition Services (CNS) program and to do related work as required. ∗
Essential Job Functions:

Analyzes financial and operating statements for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations.
∗
Assists with preparation of the budget for the CNS operation and supervises and controls expenditures for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations.
∗
Assumes responsibility for the efficient and economical operation of the program for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
∗
Implements and supervises the preparation of cost control records for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations.
∗
Performs personnel functions (e.g recruitment, hiring, evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and ensuring that objectives of services are achieved within budget.
∗
Periodically inspects cafeterias for cleanliness and conformance to established operating procedures for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
∗
Plans community service events which utilize cafeteria facilities; attends food service conferences and conventions as the District’s representative for the purpose of serving as a resource to other school personnel, the Board and other districts.

Plans and directs the District CNS program in conformance with federal and state regulations and District policy for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations.
∗
Plans the District monthly master menu, insuring dietary balance and nutritional adequacy for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations.
∗
Plans, develops, and supervises a training program for CNS personnel for the purpose of carrying out objectives within areas of responsibility.
∗
Prepares specifications, reviews bids, and purchases cafeteria food, supplies, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations.
∗
Supervises cafeteria managers for the purpose of carrying out objectives within areas of responsibility.
Other Job Functions: * Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Job Requirements - Qualifications: * Experience Required: Three years of experience in school cafeteria or institutional food management involving the planning and preparation of food in large quantity, plus two years supervisory experience. *
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills to perform basic arithmetic calculations, operate and care for institutional kitchen equipment, use standard office equipment, and basic computer skills. Knowledge of modern methods of food preparation, health codes and sanitation principles, accounting and record keeping practices, purchasing methods and controls, principles of supervision and food values, proper food combinations, and economical substitutions that may be used within food groups.
Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, provide direction to others and make independent judgments based on common sense, keep and maintain accurate records, understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, balancing, stooping, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds (potential hazards), visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation. *
Education Required: High School diploma required; AA degree with course work in nutrition, management, and supervision preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Valid Driver’s License and evidence of insurability, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, TB test.

Other: Appropriate Food Handler Permit may be required, including Servsafe certification.
