2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games District Coaches Roles and Responsibilities Qualifications: The designated coaches must ensure they have the NCCP coaching certification designated in the sport technical package and have a current criminal record check including the vulnerable sector check. Prior to the Games: Upon selection as the coach of the District team: • Meet with the Provincial Sport Governing Body (PSGB) to review the sport technical information for your sport. • Become familiar with the Sask Games Fill Policy. • In consultation with the PSGB determine the district team selection process. • Contact the Sport, Recreation and Culture District office to introduce yourself and to advise them of the District team selection (tryout) dates, locations, process and procedure, costs, and to enlist their help in promoting such. • Attend each designated district selection location. • Ensure the participants meet the district eligibility guidelines. • In cooperation with the PSG, promote the Saskatchewan Games and the district team selection (tryout) dates and locations to those involved in your sport within the district. • Upon district team selection work with the Districts to ensure the items below are completed: o Uniform sizing o Online registration o Coordinate payment and/or collection of participant fees ($75 Sask Games fee)

o Provide team members with information applicable to the team’s participation in the Games, including transportation, pep rallies or staging events. o Finalize rosters and submit to the District Sask Games Coordinator. o Contact the PSGB technical liaison/office and district regarding who the fill athletes are (if applicable to your sport). Select a manager and any other additional staff identified in the technical package. Work with the PSGB to ensure competition uniforms are received and distributed to the team prior to arriving at the Games.

During the Games: • • • • •

Coach their District team at the Saskatchewan Games. Coordinate and travel with the team to and from the host community on the transportation provided by the Saskatchewan Games Council (motor coach buses). All coaches and managers must stay in the athlete’s village with their teams to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their athletes. Coaches with the support of the Team Manager will supervise their teams during their stay in the athlete’s village and the host community. Ensure that all team members understand the Code of Conduct and that they comply with the Code of Conduct (including curfew) and the regulations established by the host community. The coaches are responsible for team supervision and discipline travelling to and from the games as well as during the games. Upon departure ensure the rooms are clean and respectful. Participate with their team in the Opening or Closing Ceremonies. Ensure you and your team are aware of and on time for all transportation to and from your venue. Coaches and Managers must abide by the same athlete’s village curfew as their team.

Following the Games: •

Participate in a feedback survey from the Sask Games Council providing your evaluation of the Games and providing any recommendations for improvement.
