ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS Subject to conditions prescribed by the undersigned, sealed bids for a Contract are invited for the following Work: Etcheverry Hall Cafe PROJECT NO. 12631A Estimated Construction Cost: $990,000 UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BERKELEY, CA; ALAMEDA COUNTY DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Renovation of an existing space used as classroom and to be used as a Café Space. The project includes upgrading electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and architectural finishes to fit the space for new use. As well as it includes renovation of existing exterior spaces to be used as sitting areas serving the new Café. Minor renovation to existing restrooms is also included. BIDDER QUALIFICATIONS: To allow the University to evaluate bidders, each bidder must submit with its bid, a Contractor’s Special Statement of Experience. This Contractor’s Special Statement of Experience must be provided on the Contractor’s letterhead. If your firm provides inaccurate or incomplete information your firm will be found non-responsive. If your firm receives negative project references they may be found non-responsive. To be eligible for consideration of award, the Contractor’s Special Statement of Experience must include: 1. Documentation that the bidder has successfully completed the following: 1. A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) projects completed in the past five (5) years that meet the criteria listed below and demonstrate the bidder’s ability to successfully complete the project with respect to project size, cost, use, complexity, etc. DO NOT include projects currently under construction. 2. All submitted projects must be within the immediate nine Bay Area counties. 3. Submitted projects should include a minimum of $990,000 in total construction value in an occupied building. 4. Include the following for each project: (a) project name, (b) owner’s name, (c) contract value at award, (d) total Change Order value, (e) completion date, (f) Owner’s Representative address and current phone number and (g) brief scope. 2. Sealed Bids will not be accepted after 2:00 P.M., September 7, 2016. A MANDATORY Pre-Bid Conference and Site Visit will be conducted on August 22, 2016, beginning promptly at rd 10:00 A.M. Participants shall meet at the Elevator Lobby of Etcheverry Hall 3 Floor at Plaza Southeast entrance. Only bidders who participate in the Pre-Bid Conference in its entirety, will be allowed to bid on the Project as prime contractors. NOTE: Prospective bidders will find that parking on campus may be difficult. The Owner recommends that you allow ample time to drive to the campus, find a parking space, walk to and locate the starting point from which the MANDATORY Pre-Bid Site Visit will begin. Prospective bidders arriving late after the MANDATORY Pre-Bid Site Visit has commenced (i.e., more than 15 minutes after the published starting time.) will not be allowed to submit a bid as a prime contractor for this project. Prospective bidders must be present for the entire Pre-Bid Site Visit. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a Bid for this project (submitted on or after March 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)] No contractor or subcontractor may be awarded any portion of this project (awarded on or after April 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5. The successful Bidder and its Subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage rates at the location of the Work.
