Institutional Graduation Requirements for Bachelor Degrees (Please See Academic Catalog for More Details)

Complete the General Education Core (GEC) with a minimum of 60 credits. See the Registrar’s GEC page for a complete list of approved courses.

Complete University Writing Requirement (UWR). See the Registrar’s UWR page for a complete list of approved courses. Make sure to check the academic catalog for designated UWR courses for your specific academic program.

Complete the Diversity, Power & Discrimination (DPD) requirement. Students admitted Fall 2010 – Spring 2015 are required to complete 5 DPD credits. As of Fall 2015 students will be required to complete 4 DPD credits. See the Registrar’s DPD page for a list of approved courses.

Complete 60 credits minimum upper division (300-400) courses. Your major may not provide you with enough upper division credits to graduate.

Complete all requirements in the major, with at least 20 credits coming from EOU (10 credits at the upper division). Academic Catalog requirements prior to 2015-2016 require at least 35 credits in the major with a minimum of 25 at the upper division. Beginning with the 2015-2016 academic catalog 45 credits will be required for the major with 30 at the upper division.

If identified upon admission as foreign language deficient, you must complete two terms of the same foreign language with a grade of C- or better.

EOU Residency Requirement: 45 credits from EOU, 30 of which must be upper division

Complete a minimum of 180 credits. You may transfer a maximum 120 lower division credits from a community college or another university. Courses below the 100-level will NOT apply toward the 180 credits for a degree.

Complete Math Competency Requirement: College level mathematics or statistics course, with a minimum of 3 credit hours with a prerequisite of intermediate algebra (Math 095) or higher with a C- or better. The course can be graded S/U so long as it is not also being used to meet a program requirement. Program requirements may require additional math.

A maximum of 90 credits in your major discipline may apply towards graduation.

For Bachelor of Arts degree there is an additional requirement – must satisfy foreign language requirement as defined in academic catalog.

Maximum 12 credits of Physical Education activity credits may apply toward a degree.

Maximum 12 credits of Music activity credits may apply toward a degree. Music majors may exceed this limit.

Maximum 12 credits of INTACT courses may apply toward a degree

Maximum 45 credits of practicum coursework numbered 109, 209, 309, or 409 may apply toward a degree.

A combined maximum of 45 credit hours of course challenges, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced Placement (AP), Agency Sponsored Learning (ASL), and Assessment for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) may be applied toward a degree.

A combined maximum of 60 credit hours of course challenges, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced Placement (AP), Agency Sponsored Learning (ASL), and Assessment for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) AND practicum coursework may be applied toward a degree.

No more than 93 non-graded credits (included S/U) may be applied toward a degree.

EOU GPA Minimum: 2.000
