Prof. Dr. Dharmishta H. Mehta, M.S.W., Tata Institute Of Social Sciences, Mumbai, B.ed. (special Education), Ph.d. (learning Disability), Sndt Women’s University, Mumbai. Joined the Department of Special Education, SNDT Women's University as a lecturer in 1985 and retired as a Professor in 2007. she has published papers in National and International Journals, guided researches, conducted workshops on the many varied aspects of Special Education at National and International levels. She has worked extensively with children with special needs, doing assessments and planning intervention programmes for children from all over the country. She is also credited with having established “Arushi”, the Compensatory and Remedial Education, service delivery units and the assessment and research unit. The promulgation of the tests developed has been founded on this rich and varied experience. Dr. Mehta has been a recipient of the Sociology Academy Prize from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. She has been on a 6 week programme to Sweden (Stockholm and Uppsala) organized by the Council of International Fellowship of Social-Workers (1996) and on a UGC sponsored program to Hungary in 2002.
