This was held on Saturday, February 4th at Campbell Auto Services on S Saunders St in Raleigh. Phil Campbell was our new and most gracious host, who placed his facility at our disposal for the servicing of our vehicles in preparation for our upcoming touring schedule. We had 10 cars turn out for the event and take advantage of using the lifts to make the draining of oil, topping off the transmission and rear end oil, and the greasing of the multiple points across the front and rear axles and steering. It is also a great opportunity to give the cars a close inspection on the underside, without the need to lay on your back on a cold concrete floor. Lunch as on previous occasions was facilitated by Laura DeVore and Vanda Taylor, which consisted of cold cuts with drinks and desserts in the form of cookies and other delights, which was welcomed and enjoyed by all the attendees, including our host.

The Presidential Messages Fellow Members Sir Walter Wally's Prediction for 2017 is for an early spring, though you wouldn’t have believed the creature on Lube Day. Thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to make the day a success. After the event, it occurred to me that oil pans, transmissions, rear ends and grease fittings all got attention, but we tend to ignore the poor battery. Just thinking a little PM at home is easier than in a parking lot somewhere. For 2017, MAFCA has set up a challenge for Chapters and members; to see if collectively members can drive 100,000 miles in any one day. The proposal is to have each chapter choose one day to tour and accumulate mileage that will then be added to an aggregate of MAFCA members trying to achieve 100,000 miles driven in a day. If the goal is realized, MAFCA will send window decals to all participants. There is no cost to the chapters or participants, Chapters are responsible for collecting and reporting mileage on an honor basis only. Each chapter may choose their day, route and tour to participate. The actual mileage reported must be driven on one day by the chapter members. The day must be between January 1, 2017 and October 31, 2017. Surely if we keep track of the mileage we should be able to post some impressive numbers on some of the tours we have scheduled for this year.
Steve Grace President (Elect).

Parades Saturday, December 3rd - Apex This is one of the Christmas parades that is well supported by the club members and the public at large. It is also the only parade that is performed after dusk. A number of cars participated on this cold December day, arriving at the parade site in good time to decorate the cars before the parade starts. Terry Babb was at the front of the parade carrying an Apex Council person in his car. The remainder of the cars were positioned some 20 entries further down the parade. As you can see from the picture below the parade was well supported by the public who love to see the cars and hear the ahooga of the horns.

Saturday, December 10th - Holly Springs Just seven days later and the temperatures had declined for this early parade. Only a few brave souls ventured out to participate in the parade. At the assembly point the local gas station owner was handing out free hot chocolate and cookies to all participants, which was much needed and appreciated!.
