Personal Assessment & Development (PAD) Framework Helping you get where you want to go
As we all continue to develop ourselves, and help others do so as well, what’s often helpful, if not essential, is an organizing framework by which to think about the key dimensions involved in moving from our Current State (CS) to our desired Future State (FS) or, as some call it, our personal Vision. To help with this, the Personal Assessment & Development (PAD) Framework has been created so that we can better understand ourselves in relation to where to where we want to go. In turn, we can make conscious decisions and take the most appropriate actions to achieve our intentions.
The PAD Framework Skills CS: the technical skills I have FS: the technical skills I want in order to have the experiences I desire and accomplish the things I want to accomplish
Behaviors CS: the behavioral traits I have (focus on strengths, yet note more challenging traits too) FS: the behavioral traits I want to develop and have at a future point in time
Experience CS: what I have done, where I’ve done it, and for how long: an "audit”, not a grade of how I did FS: the experiences I want to obtain
Education/Knowledge CS: my formal education (certificates, degrees, etc.) and informal knowledge/self-education (books, workshops, videos, etc.) FS: the education and knowledge I want
Contributions/Accomplishments CS: what I’ve accomplished individually or contributed as part of a team FS: what I want to accomplish individually or contribute as part of a team
Activities CS: how I spend time FS: how I want to spend time in relation to what I want to accomplish/contribute
Relationships CS: the relationships I have now FS: the relationships I want to create or nurture to help develop me in the way I want to grow
Intentions/Passions/Purpose CS: where is my energy now? FS: where do I see my energy being in the future, and will it be in-line with my authentic self?
Compensation/Financial CS: the financial assets I have FS: the money I want to make and the financial position I want to achieve at a future point in time.
Benefits/Lifestyle/Wellness CS: not only healthcare and similar benefits, yet the lifestyle and wellness benefits I have currently FS: the lifestyle, and wellness benefits I want (part time work, location, short commute, etc.)
The 10 dimensions of the PAD Framework have been written above in the first person. Even so, the questions and ideas can be reframed to help others as well. Where to start? It doesn’t matter. Go where you want to go and make it fun. This is about your life or the life of someone you care about. It’s about creating consciousness, clarity, and confidence. It’s about making great things happen! Wishin’ you the very best on your journey! People-Centered Strategies
