" How are you addressing these problem spots of lead contamination in PGCPS schools specifically? which staff? and precisely what actions are being taken? The information is maintained by different offices and we are working with them to have a response to you by the week of October 3rd. For questions 3 & 4, our staff advised as follows: 3. All testing results to date have been provided. There was no testing during 2016. 4. We are following the EPA guidelines for schools and using the action level of 20 ppb. I will be in touch with the remaining information for your response shortly. Thank you. ________________________________________ Demetria T. Tobias, Esq. Thank you Dr. Maxwell for the response, I do have some additional questions. 1. You state, "The fixtures that tested above EPA recommended levels were taken out of service. " please detail which schools have fixtures that are currently out of service. 2. You state "PHASE 4 An RFP has been submitted to remediate the remaining classroom water fountains and sinks throughout the system." Please send me that RFP. 3. Also, from what I understand from all the reports there are many schools that have not been tested in almost a decade now? Please send any 2016 tests that you have done and https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/PrintMessage

Re: Lead remediation - fixtures, Phase 4 RFP, 2016 test, EPA action level
please provide the other testing on more recent tests of the water. 4. Am I correct you are using the EPA 1991 action level of 15 ppb ? or the EPA school action level of 20 ppb? Please let me know. Thank you so very much in advance, Theodora Scarato I should also add that when you state that "PGCPS is confident that all schools have water sources that are free of lead." This is inaccurate because the EPA action level at 15 or 20 ppb is now considered most likely too high to protect health.
"The Environmental Protection Agency requires action to be taken if lead levels in water reach 15 parts per billion. The district lowered the threshold to 10 parts per billion to remove any risk to students, Wallace said." http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/education/reportdetailsleadcontaminationinwaterat stlouisschools/article_6e0bbeaeb27358e7866295281e175a3d.html You may want to send a staff member to this lecture Save the Date ‐ "The Charles and Mary O'Melia Lecture in Environmental Sciences" ‐ September 20th Marc A.
