He will compete for a memorial belt buckle, $1,500 dollars, studio recording time, and the opportunity to perform on the Livestock Show entertainment float in 2017. Filming the video was a process involving Torres and Grupe. They had to think about setting, time, angles, shots, movement, and even weather to produce the video, according to Grupe. “This was a great opportunity for creativity,” Grupe said. “Helping Tyler achieve his goal gives me a sense of overwhelming pride.”

Students From U.S. Come To Biggest Screen, Broadcast Symposium Sponsored By NCISD By Bailey Parker, Kristen Clary John Daigle New Caney ISD will hold a broadcast symposium in Texan Drive Stadium and Porter High School July 19-20. The event is designed for student broadcasters, teachers, principals and administrators from across the country. “The idea came about last year when some of the EagleVision staff took part in a UIL competition in Austin,” said teacher Jim Becka, who
will be one of speakers for the symposium. “There were workshops during the competition, but few were devoted to broadcast. You can learn about yearbook, newspaper, or photography, but very few of the speakers had broadcast backgrounds. Since New Caney ISD has the largest high school video screen in the country and only high school ribbon screen, why couldn’t we put together our own symposium and invite the country to come here.”
Speakers for the symposium include Minerva Perez of Channel 13 and longtime Houston radio personality Bill Ingram (Currently with KSBJ). Perez is an Emmy awardEmmy Award Winning Journalist Minerva Perez will speak for the symposium. Photo courtesy of Houston Business Journal.

How much room will I need? How much do cameras cost? How many computer editors are enough for the number of students? These are but a few of the answers you can get at the Student Broadcast Symposium.” Cost for the symposium is $90 at the door

Opinions Building Wall Between U.S., Mexico easily pay for a wall, but Is It Realistic? would even then the work force By Arianna Grupe Eaglevision Producer United States’ presidential candidate Donald Trump has a very strong opinion over immigration. With recent immigration issues, in not only the U.S, but also other countries, Trump is proposing to build a wall across U.S. Borders to stop undocumented immigration into the country. This idea, while nice in theory, offers only a temporary solution to immigration, because, as with all other immigration solutions, ways around the wall will be found. Also, the work force, money, materials, and time needed to take on and complete such a project will not only take away valuable time from other political issues, but also use tax dollars for a seeming unnecessary project. Some may argue that taking funding away from other government programs
needed to build such a project would be composed of many undocumented immigrant workers, because their labor is cheap, fast, efficient, and of a high quality. Overall, Donald Trump’s solution to immigration, legal and illegal, is effective in theory, but unrealistic in actuality due to the lack of money, time and work force.

War Is Coming What Will Donald vs Hillary Mean? By Jim Becka I have the distinction of working for a president many consider the most corrupt in history, Lyndon B. Johnson. He owned a couple of radio stations in Texas, including my employer KTRM in Beaumont. Many considered increasing the Washington power grid to accommodate Johnson political aspirations. He is one of the few politicians forced to remove a caustic political ad from television. The LBJ advertisement promised a nuclear war if Goldwater was elected president. It showed a young girl being blown up in a nuclear blast. The LBJ ad sent more than a few people to bed with nightmares and the FCC stepped in to take it off television. In spite of accusations that LBJ voted people from Texas cemeteries to win his early elections, he became mellow later in life. Hillary and Donald could be headed for a match-up, and it could make the days of LBJ pretty mild. Watching Trump on CNN last week I observed the top Republican candidate attacking opponents for sweating
too much, being corrupt, and (the worst insult of all) being liberal. He cussed and bullied and the crowds roared their approval. At one rally a heckler was removed during a Trump speech. Donald took a few minutes to say that hecklers should be punched in the face. It is unfair to compare Hitler to Trump, but when I watch Trump turning crowds into screaming zombies I remember the spell Hitler had over his audiences. Hillary does not have the Trump ability to move crowds, but she has shown great ability to gather support from backroom deals. Her reputation
for accepting money from anyone is legendary. While Trump does everything in public, Clinton does everything in private. Hillary has taken a different approach that may be equally effective. She refuses to answer questions from journalists and leaves most of her attacks to subordinate organizations, like Media Matters. Bombastic politics has been around a long time, but the next election may set new lows. Choose your candidate wisely, and don’t cheer when your candidate bullies. Also, don’t gloat when your candiate buys an election in back rooms.
Jim Becka has been a Houston area radio/TV producer since 1973.
LEGS Across New Caney High School By Arianna Grupe New Caney High School has a new organization already making an impact on the school. NCHS Junior class valedictorian, volleyball player, and softball player,Grace Lewis started this new religious organization Living Examples of God, or LEGs, as a way to make a difference in the school. Members of LEGs have been completing minor service project throughout the year, such as gift bags for Tennis when they made it to the playoffs, christmas treats for the new teachers on campus, and treats for both the boys and girls basketball teams. LEGs was created as a way to serve God by serving others in the community. Members meet for breakfast and fellowship every other week as they plan new ways to help make NCHS a better place through small service projects that not only pass along the word of God,but also put a smile on someone ’s face.
