SPRINKLES’ BIOGRAPHY  Dr. Shirley Sprinkles is a semi‐ retired career educator.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in  Education from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1960. She taught  elementary school in the Los Angeles area for 20 total years, with a few breaks to pursue  political interests and a brief entrepreneurial venture.  In 1985 she returned to the classroom  and soon earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Cal State Los Angeles.    Dr. Sprinkles moved to Austin after receiving a full scholarship in 1990 to the graduate school in  UT’s Dept. of Bilingual Education. She is a fluent Spanish‐speaker. She changed majors, and  completed her graduate work through a fellowship in the Cooperative Superintendence  Program (CSP) in 1994 with a doctorate in Educational Administration, while working full time  as Program Director in the Division of Gifted Education at the Texas Education Agency.  In 1995  Dr. Sprinkles was hired as territorial Sales and Marketing Consultant with the McGraw‐Hill  Companies—a position she held for 8 years, from which she is retired.   She is currently practicing part‐time as an independent educational consultant assisting school  districts whose accountability ratings are in jeopardy.  She is a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist  Church, and is married to Minister Leo Morris. Dr. Sprinkles‐Morris is mother of four successful  adult children and grandmother of eight—all of whom live far away.   Although she misses  them, this allows for great vacations!
