The Zonal Unions, by this time must have read the contentsof Railway Board's letter dated 0310112017 sentby the Federationvide endorsementdated 0910112017, cited under reference. The core issue now agitating the minds of all stake holders is that due to hard working conditions and inadequatefacilities at work place, the Track Maintainers are greatlydisappointedand not inclined to perform their duties out of frustration. The recently joined Track Maintainers are highly qualified people and they naturally, appire speedycareer growth and comfortable working conditions. Sadly, there is no satisfactorycareergrowth in the Track Maintainers category. During the discussionswith CRB on 12tr January 2017, the Federationmentionedthe difficult situations under which the Track Maintainers are doing duties for maintaining P. Way Tracks. The moot point is whether recruitment system and entry qualification is required to be reviewed. All of you would agreethat able bodied candidates who are capable to do hard manual Track Maintainer job, facing all odds are required for perforniing the job and for the said pu{pose, what should be done for engaging such individuals and what methodology is required for appointing thern. Your suggestionsare sought on the above points. Before finalizing suggestions, you may consult Track Maintainers,JEs/SSEsand Officers of Civil EngineeringDepartmentfor ascertainingtheir views also. Federation desiresto place cogent casebefore the Railway Board soon. Federationexpectsinputs from the Zonal Unions within a fortnight, without fail. PLEASE ENSURE.
