Greenville County Schools Guidelines for Qualifying for an Early Dismissal (Request Form at the bottom)

Schools will not allow permanent early dismissals to any student except when a high school student’s principal determines that all of the following circumstances exist: 24 units are

Seniors

Student classified as a senior; required to Student has passed all parts of the HSAP; obtain a SC Student is enrolled in the courses needed to complete the requirements of the SC High School Diploma; HS Diploma Student is scheduled for a minimum of -four class periods per day on a seven-period day schedule, or -two class periods per day on a 4 x 4 or A/B block schedule; and, Student’s parent/guardian petitions the school in writing for the student’s permanent early dismissal at a time to be determined by the school.

Students must leave the high school within ten minutes of the last period he/she attends.

Students are required to complete 24 units of credit to earn a SC State Diploma. 3-hour college courses, according to SC State Department of Education regulation, earn one unit of credit per course. In Greenville County Schools, 3-hour college courses earn only elective high school credit. In Greenville County Schools, only approved 3-hour college courses will be awarded high school credit.

If the early dismissal is denied, then the student is responsible for returning to Greenville Technical College Admissions and withdrawing (dropping) from the course or charges will apply.
