Budget – Construction - $1.0M Stonestreet Pedestrian Bridge Abutment Removal (John Hollida) Project Goal / Expected Outcome – Remove remnants of the former pedestrian bridge which are not needed; thereby eliminating future maintenance responsibility and liability. Construction Impacts – Minimal/No impact. Schedule – East abutment - removed Summer 2015. West abutment - September 2015; Duration - 2 weeks. Budget – Construction - $75,000 Howard Avenue Water Main Replacement (John Hollida) Project Goal / Expected Outcome - Replace aging infrastructure and improve fire flow in the water system. Construction Impacts – Excavation in the roadway. Access is maintained. Schedule – Construction - September, 2015; Duration - 2 months. Budget – Construction - $0.4M APS (Daniel Seo) Project Goal / Expected Outcome – Improve pedestrian safety; Provide countdown pedestrian signal heads and new push buttons.
Construction Impacts - Minimal/No impact (electrical work only). One location - intersection of S. Stonestreet Ave and Metro entrance. Schedule – February, 2016; Duration – 1 week. Budget - $15,000
Sharrows - North Horners (Kevin Belanger) Project Goal / Expected Outcome - Encourage bike riding. Increase the visibility and comfort of people riding bicycles on City streets. Construction Impacts – Sharrows are applied to the street. Traffic is maintained by flaggers. Applied during off peak hours. Schedule – Late October / early November, 2015; Duration – 1 day Budget - $30,000; 100% grant funded (MDOT). North Horners Force Main Replacement (Jim Woods) Project Goal / Expected Outcome - Replace aging infrastructure and increase sewer capacity. Construction Impacts – Trenchless construction; limited excavation. Schedule – Construction - Winter, 2016; Duration - 4 months. Community meeting planned – Sept 24. Budget – Construction - $0.6 M

East Rockville Construction Projects – Public Works 2015 and 2016 September 10, 2015 Frog Run Storm Drain Improvement (Gabe Kosarek) Project Goal / Expected Outcome - Repair 1,900 LF of CMP storm drain (circa early 1960s). Line the invert with shotcrete, as well as approximately 1 dozen point repairs. Construction Impacts – Night work (9 pm - 7 am). Lane closures and access occurring at 3 manholes on Middle Lane @ Rt 355, Park Ln at Rt 355 under the bridge, and Park Ln at N. Stonestreet for 4 nights. There will also be access during the normal work hours (7 am to 5 pm) at the end of Grandin where it abuts Park Ln, and a lane closure at Reading Terrace and Grandin which will also span 4 days. Work is inside the pipe.
Schedule - Construction - November, 2015; Duration - 6 months. Budget - Construction - $0.4 M East Rockville Sanitary Sewer Capacity Improvements (Jim Woods) Project Goal / Expected Outcome – Infrastructure renewal, decrease risk of sewer overflows and increase sewer capacity. Construction Impacts - Lane and road closures, parking restrictions, excavation in roadways and on private property (within easements), park and playground closure in Maryvale Park (path / swings). Schedule – Construction - December, 2015; Duration - 12 months. Budget – Construction - $2.6 M ($1.3 M developer funded for the project) Edmonston Bridge Rehabilitation (John Hollida) Project Goal / Expected Outcome – Rehabilitate aging bridge and extend the structure’s useful life. Construction Impacts – Underside bridge repairs will be done at night which requires both WMATA and CSXT coordination. Top side repair will require a full time lane closure, one at a time, during construction. Intermittent sidewalk closures will also be used during construction. Schedule – Construction – Spring, 2016; Duration - 12 months. Budget – Construction - $1.3 M; WMATA is responsible for $0.5M per Master Agreement (MA-030) dated December 6, 1973 and Supplement No. 1 dated November 1, 1978. South Stonestreet Road Diet (Greg Lyons) Project Goal / Expected Outcome – Improve pedestrian safety and access to Metro. Provide bicycle lane. Install sidewalk on west side of S. Stronestreet Ave (Metro side). Narrow roadway (4 lanes to 3 lanes) to accommodate sidewalk without removing trees. Bike lane on east side added by a combination of sharrows and painted bike lane. Construction Impacts –Daytime lane closures outside of peak traffic hours. Schedule - Construction - Spring, 2016. Duration – 5 months. Budget – Construction - $0.4 M (80% grant funded by Complete Streets Near Metro Stations) Douglas Avenue Sewer Dig and Replace (Jim Woods) Project Goal / Expected Outcome - Replacement of aging infrastructure. Existing sewer has significant

Increase waterway opening to reduce potential of the stream overtopping the roadway. Improve pedestrian safety with addition of a sidewalk on east side of First Street. Add 2 off-street parking spaces to serve Maryvale Park. Construction Impacts - First Street road closure during bridge replacement; detour routes; parking restrictions. Pedestrian access will be maintained to Maryvale Park during construction. Schedule – Construction – Spring, 2016; Duration – 6 months. Budget - Construction - $1.2 M Baltimore Road (Andrew Luetkemeier) Project Goal / Expected Outcome - Create a safer, standard roadway section that will benefit the users of multiple modes of transportation through the Baltimore Road corridor from Rt 355 to Rockville High School, and 2 bump outs on Baltimore Rd at S. Horners and Grandin. Construction Impacts – Full project: Full and partial roadway closures for construction; Roadway detours; Tree removal to accommodate roadway widening; and Temporary driveway closures. East Rockville impacts limited to partial road closures. Schedule – Construction – Fall, 2016. Duration – 18 months.
