AS/A2
English Literature What will I study? The course is a linear course compromising of two qualifications: a stand-alone AS in Literature that can then be taken on to the A2. At the end of the two years the student will have two qualifications. The course looks at a variety of thematic texts and poetry, as well as Shakespeare and an element of coursework. The AS course features the study of a selection of poetry, a play and two texts with a linking theme of science and society. One book is pre1900's and the other is post 1900's. The AS is a 100% exam course. The A2 which follows on from the AS, brings in elements of Shakespeare and coursework, that builds upon the work already studied in the AS course. A level English Literature is a popular subject, delivered by a dedicated team of subject specialists. The challenging yet accessible nature of the work allows candidates to success in a traditional yet modern, highly recognised and valued subject area.
Entry Requirements At least 5 GCSE A*-C. Students are required to gain at least a B in both English Language and English Literature.
How will I be assessed? The AS part of the course is 100% exam. The A2 part of the course is 80% exam and 20% coursework.
