Preface Faculty of Islamic Studies, State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is established on 17th September 1999 as collaboration of Indonesian Government; Ministry of Religion Indonesia Republic and Al-Azhar University, Cairo. Based on the collaboration, Faculty of Islamic Studies adopts curriculum of Islamic Studies Faculty Al-Azhar University Cairo; using Arabic language as daily language, writing thesis in Arabic language, and memorizing 8 Juz of Quran as a requirement of graduation. Faculty of Islamic Studies is one of the best religious faculties in State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This faculty is expected to support the objectives of State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta especially in Islamic studies. Faculty of Islamic Studies is designed with international quality in the curriculum, learning books, Arabic competency, learning method, lecturer/human resources, and facilities and infrastructure. To support the vision and mission of State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and fulfill the society needs of best graduated student that master in Islamic studies, Arabic language, and Memorization of Quran along with good behavior, Faculty of Islamic Studies conducts more academic and non-academic development. As for curriculum evaluation of university, we are doing Tracer Study 2015 in aiming to identify Alumni profile, knowing the curriculum relevance that Faculty of Islamic Studies adjusted with the work needs, and figuring out the competency of Alumni needed. Those data will be needed to conduct evaluation and revision of undergraduate curriculum so that will increase the quality of Alumni. It cannot be denied that soft skills are an unstated requirement that Alumni seek, therefore we would like to know your opinion about soft skills development in Faculty of Islamic Studies. Suggestion for Islamic Studies Faculty 1. Is the lesson material in Islamic Studies Faculty of State Islamic University Jakarta useful for your job? a. Yes, fully. b. Yes, in some part. (50%) 2. In your opinion, what is the additional preparation that should be given to Alumni of Islamic Studies Faculty in order to support the job (soft skills): a. Active in Arabic language with reactivate Arabic Zone. b. Good Public Speaking. After graduation, student who dedicate in society will be seen in his way to communicate instead of his diploma/GPA. c. Partnership/ strong connection with institution to place the graduated student. d. Knowledge in society life (social communication, toleration, etc.) because there are some student that good in academic but unsuccessful in society especially student from village. 3. Suggestion for Islamic Studies Faculty of State Islamic University Jakarta: a. There should have an organization that society oriented under Student Board or faculty as a place for student to research under faculty supervision because Community Service Program (KKN) is not enough, even seems only a formality. If there is student in the middle of society, tolerance and affection will grow and we will not have student that has relation in terrorism activity. b. It is needed, even important to collaborate with Daarus Sunnah Islamic School in Jl. Pisangan Barat SD Inpres, in study of Takrij Hadits, fikih Hadits, etc because the class that like Majlis Ta’lim is not helping as we did in faculty. And remember that there are some Hadits that student used as their reason in distortion behavior. c. Add more literature book in the library especially that supported in learning subject because it is a pity for student that has to go Iman Jamma, etc. regularly to find the book related in the study or referential book for the thesis that should be in faculty library. d. Student Board and Faculty should have mutual support and active coordination, all of the good skills and interests should be fully-supported. In the past, Islamic Studies Faculty has national calligrapher, national Qori-Qori’ah (someone who

expert in reciting Quran) but did not give contribution for faculty and other student did not know because they did not have place to show off and teach the other student in the faculty. It is not only for contribution but also there will be some income. Other skills also are in music area such as Hadrah, Marawis, etc. For example, collaborate with Daarus Sunnah Islamic School, or private institute or government that ready to place the graduated student with them. If it is done, Alumni of the faculty is well-recognized by public. So that will be lot of contribution and student will enthusiasts entering Islamic Studies Faculty. e.
