Dear Sylvia, In this past 35th anniversary year, Terry was honoured with remarkable events like the Terry Fox Exhibit “Running Into the Heart of Canada” at the Canadian Museum of History, the release of a Terry Fox Heritage Minute, and the declaration of an annual Terry Fox Day by three provincial governments. Yet, undoubtedly, what would matter most to Terry is you. Your commitment to his dream of a world free of cancer is exactly what he was hoping for when forced to end the Marathon of Hope. It was the end of Terry’s journey but the beginning of ours.   Among us every year, urging us forward, was Terry’s father, Rolly. He liked nothing better than meeting and thanking remarkable Terry Foxers like you, sharing stories, offering a favourite lapel pin, always aware of the vital role you play in keeping Terry’s dream alive.   Sadly, Rolly lost his battle with cancer in March. While I did not have the opportunity to meet Terry, I was honoured to get to know his wonderful dad. Watching this family who are like so many other families lose their father has further strengthened my resolve to ensure that we continue to fund the best research projects in Canada. “ .. somewhere the hurting must stop.” We will continue to honour the many loved ones that have lost their battle with cancer with our commitment to cancer research. We are so grateful to you for being on this journey with us and ask that you stay hopeful and strong in our cause. So much has been achieved since Terry’s historic Marathon of Hope. I believe that together, we can realize his dream.
