[email protected] Dear Ms. Tungalag Baljir: Thank you for your participation at the 8th biennial meeting of the International Network of Teacher Education Institutions associated with the UNESCO Chair on Reorienting Teacher Education to Address Sustainability held 14 – 17 November 2014 in Okayama, Japan. We greatly appreciate your contributions to the discussions at the recent INTEI meeting. It was a pleasure hearing of the locally specific work in ESD that you and your institution undertake. Theses are exciting times for education for sustainable development (ESD). The UNESCO end-of-Decade report Shaping the Future We Want clearly showed great progress of ESD across the ten years. Our UNESCO Chair survey and report show that ESD in teacher education evolved similarly, going through phases of awareness raising, capacity building, identification of good practices, and implementation and institutionalization of ESD. Furthermore, the new focus on the relationship between ESD and quality education has opened new opportunities for research and innovative approaches, As you are aware, the Global Action Programme (GAP) for ESD has been established for the upcoming five years. Educators are one of the five priority action areas for the GAP. The good news is that UNESCO recently invited the INTEI to be a Key Partner in the Partner Network for educators. The ongoing work of the INTEI will be important to the GAP. We look forward to our collaboration during the Global Action Programme for ESD over the next five years. We trust that your institution will benefit from your involvement in the INTEI. Your participation in the learning circles, the online NING platform, and emerging research activities could be an enriching opportunity for both your institution and the other institutions in the INTEI. Please share this letter of our sincere appreciation with your dean or the administrator who made your participation in the INTEI meeting possible. Sincerely,
Charles Hopkins Chair
