DETAILS OF THE LANCASTER COUNTY FARM AND HOME FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS – 2017 A.

These scholarships are to be in the fields of Agriculture and Family and Consumer Science; the number to be awarded will depend upon the financial need, qualifications of the applicants and the availability of funds.

B.

Amount and Details of Each Scholarship Award: 1. Each scholarship award will be in the amount of $1,000.00 per year for four years payable jointly through the university or college or other acceptable institution, in equal installments at the beginning of each semester during the recipient's years in college. Recipients must continue to major in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Science, or related field and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better. A student who maintains eligibility, but completes a degree in less than 8 semesters is not guaranteed the maximum $4,000.00. 2. This scholarship award may be used to help defray tuition, fees, or room and board expenses at any college or university, which offers a course in Agriculture, Family and Consumer Science, or related programs.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements: 1. Senior students in public and non-public high schools in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, who are also residents of Lancaster County or Lancaster County residents who have completed high school training and beginning their freshman year of college in Fall of 2017 are eligible. 2. Applicants must meet scholastic and other entrance requirements for an accredited program in either Agriculture or Family and Consumer Science at an accredited college, university, or other acceptable educational institution. 3. Children of members of the Board of Directors of the Farm and Home Foundation are not eligible.

Basis of Selection: 1. Applicants must complete and submit the attached application form, along with a transcript of their high school scholastic records on or before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 to: Leon J. Ressler Farm and Home Foundation 1383 Arcadia Road, Room 140 Lancaster, PA 17601-3184 2. Applicants must obtain a statement from their Guidance Counselor or their High School Principal, regarding their leadership ability, and character and have it mailed under separate cover to Leon J. Ressler, by the same deadline as listed above.

3. Applications must be accompanied by a photocopy of the signed parent's or guardian's 2015 and 2016 Federal Income Tax returns. (These copies will be confidential and will be returned to the applicant.) Include tax returns for both years. Please black out all Social Security numbers on tax forms before submitting them with the scholarship application. 4. Selection of winners will be based upon financial need, scholastic achievement, and leadership ability. Selections to be made by the Board of Directors of the Lancaster County Farm and Home Foundation, based upon the screening, evaluation, and recommendations of the Scholarship Committee. 5. Finalists will be invited for an interview before the Foundation Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. 6. Winners will be notified and a public announcement made by Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
