Rapid Prototyping of Probes for Use in Measuring Meteorological Parameters Tate Roberson Oklahoma State University Abstract Flying under standard flight conditions is easy, and taking measurements is almost as easy in the same scenario. However, under nonstandard condition, like flying over a fire or into a developing tornado, taking measurements becomes difficult. This project aims to create a cheap, effective, and easily modifiable probe for use in high risk flight scenarios.

How was it done?

Findings

First, research had to be done to determine how 5-hole probes are constructed.

• Investigated the design of probe types.

Secondly, a easily modifiable CAD model was constructed with the following dimensions;

• Investigated calibration techniques.

• Developed a workable CAD model.

How do we reduce both the cost and manufacturing time of 5-hole probes?

• Install probe on various sensor aircraft • Obtain real time data for analysis of parameters.

. Its actually quite simple, by utilizing a 3-D printer and a easily modifiable CAD model we can create a cheap, but accurate 5-hole probe for use on various sensing aircraft.
