December 22, 2014, Dear Galvin Middle School Community, Galvin Middle School is excited to implement our 1:1 technology learning initiative! In moving into our new building, we have learned much about the effective use of technology from our Early Adopter Teachers, within all teams and departments. We are now prepared to utilize the Chromebook device as an important tool for all students, in all classrooms in our school. Student learning and achievement will be enhanced through the seamless access to technology. In support of this effort, we will continue to support our staff through ongoing professional development and guidance on how to most effectively integrate the Chromebook as part of regular instruction. As part of this initiative, parents can expect that students will:  Use the Google Apps for Education learning platform for regular collaboration;  Receive instant feedback on assignments;  Be better prepared for computer based-assessments. For more information on the dynamic ways we have and will continue to use the Chromebook at Galvin, please refer to the Galvin 1:1 Vision and Usage Plan. In preparation for the end of January launch of this initiative, we ask that all students and their parents/guardians review, sign, and return to school the Device Responsibility Agreement (Please click on the link to this Agreement). We are setting the deadline for submittal of the signed Device Responsibility Agreement for Friday, January 16th, so we can begin to distribute devices on Tuesday, January 20th. Please note that all students and their parent/guardian must sign the Device Responsibility Agreement prior to being issued a device.
