GEN OPEN FORUM        WHAT IS IT?    

The GEN Open Forum is a periodic online meeting focused and  strengthening Network Building.  The  event  is  open  to   all  members  of  the  GEN  networks  to  share  strategies,  tools,  successes  and  challenges  from  both  Regional  Networks  and  GEN  International.  The  topics  change  in  each  event  and  are  relevant  to  the  current  needs  of  the   Network.  So  far  they  have  included:   Membership,  Organizational   Structures,  Working  Groups,  NextGEN,  Thematic  Networks,  etc.  The   Open  Forum  started  in  September  2014  and  has  been  dynamically evolving  in synchronicity with the Network as  a tool to discuss strategic information in a open and participatory way.    WHEN DOES IT HAPPEN?  Every  30­45 days. We send a doodle invite with possible dates and the most voted day is chosen. A  week  before  the  event,  we  send  out an ​ Official Invitation E­mail​ ,  and 3 days before the event the  participants receive a ​ Reminder Invitation E­mail (​ + agenda).    HOW IS THE MEETING?  1.5  to  2  hours  meeting   online  via  ​ WebEx  (in  english),  open  to  participants  of  the  GEN  Regions.  After  discussing  the  topics  we  can  decide  to  go  deeper  and  create  an  ad   hoc  group  to  share   proposals   for  the  networks  or  simply  to  share  the  information  with  our  Regions.  The  topic  for  the  next event is chosen in the end of each meeting.    HOW DO I USE THE PLATFORM FOR THE MEETING?  We  use  WebEx,  the  online  meeting  platform   used  by  GEN.  Instructions   for  downloading  and  updating  WebEx  are  provided  in  the  invitation  eMails,  so  that  you  can  download  it  and  check  your  audio software in advance of the Forum.    WHO ORGANIZES IT?  The  Open  Forum Team is  composed by Leticia Rigatti  (CASA), Linda Joseph (GEN­NA), Clio Pauly  (GEN  Africa)  and  Daniel  Greenberg  (GEN­NA).  Leticia  is  the  focalizer  for  the  group,  Linda  coordinates  the  webex   and  schedules,  Clio  supports  reviewing  the  documents  and  Daniel  is  the  moderator of the meetings.    WHERE CAN I CHECK THE FOLDER FROM OTHER FORUMS?  Open  Forum  has  a  directory  with  the  minutes,  strategic  materials,  and  some  of  the  audio  recordings.   They  are  organized  by  topics  so  you   can  check  or  download  files  to  share  with  your  Region. See it ​ HERE​ .  

 

    HOW CAN I RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT THE GEN OPEN FORUMS?  The  Open  Forum  e­mails  are  sent  to  a  team   of  regional  ​ “spreaders”  that  pass  the  voice  about next events, doodles and minutes/recordings to their regions. You can contact them  if you want to receive Open Forum notices:
