Sunday, November 18, 2012 1-6 PM 540 Delaware Ave in Albany 1-2 pm “The Tastes of The Capital Region” a cooking demonstration and tastings by The Chef ’s Consortium chefs Michael Lapi of Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and Josh Coletto, graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. 2-3 pm “Meet the Cheesemaker” Consider Bardwell Farm of West Pawlett. The Cheese Traveler will sample from its stock of over 100 cheeses in the cheese case. Acoustic music by Rick Reis, guitarist for From the Heartland and Professor of Russian at Siena College. 3-4 pm “Literary Delights and Teatime” featuring “foodie” readings by authors Daniel Nestor, Writer, Professor and Director of the MFA program in Creative Writing at the College of Saint Rose, and comedic author of How to Be Inappropriate, Matthew Klane, poet and editor of Flim Forum Press, and Alan Casline, poet and director of The Rootdrinker Institute. Coffee, tea, and pastries provided by All Good Bakers. 4-6 pm “The Heart and Meat of It” Tasting a delectable medley of Fall dishes by Tilldale Farm and MINGLE; acoustic sounds by Mike Grosshandler, guitarist for The Velmas, voted “Best Local Solo Musician” and “Best Local Producer” by readers of Metroland, and Tor and the Fjords, finalist for Hudson Valley Songfest’s “Best New Artist” and headliner for the Capital Area Indie Fest 2012. 1-2 pm “The Tastes of The Capital Region” Michael Lapi is a chef at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and former chef/owner of the Church and Main Restaurant in Canajoharie. He has long been a champion of cooking with local ingredients and his food is delicious. Josh Colleto is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He is former chef of McGeary’s and The Flying Chicken. 2-3 pm “Meet the Cheesemaker” Consider Bardwell’s cheeses are international award-winners, taking ribbons at the American Cheese Society and World Cheese Championships in the last four years. Their animals rotationally graze on organic pastures to produce the sweetest milk and the tastiest cheese. Their raw milk cheese is antibiotic and hormone free, and nutritionally complete. Rick Reis is guitarist for the folk-rock band From the Heartland. He is a Professor of Russian language at Siena College. 3-4 pm “Literary Delights and Teatime” Daniel Nestor is a poet, essayist, and Associate Professor and Director of the MFA program in Creative Writing at the College of Saint Rose. He is comedic author of his book How to Be Inappropriate. Matthew Klane, graduate of the Iowa Writer’s Workshop is a published poet of numerous books of peotry and Editor of Flim Forum Press. Alan Caslin is a poet of numerous books of poetry and Director of The Rootdrinker Institute. All Good Bakers is the brain child and “farm to table” bakery/cafe by Nick and Britin Foster. They specialize in good, clean and wholesome fresh food. The bread and baked goods are baked fresh daily. 4-6 pm “The Heart and Meat of It” Tilldale Farm is a local, organic farm in Hoosick, NY. Their beef and pork are pasture-raised and certified organic. You can find their products daily at The Cheese Traveler. MINGLE is the tastes of locally-famed Chef Un-Hui Filomeno, former Chef of Avenue A. Her dishes are infused with a delicious Korean flare and solid, international flavor. Mike Grosshandler is a singer/songwriter and guitarist for The Velmas. He was voted “Best Local Solo Musician” and “Best Local Producer” by readers of Metroland. Tor and the Fjords features the work of Tor Loney, finalist for Hudson Valley Songfest’s “Best New Artist” and headliner for the Capital Area Indie Fest 2012.
