Role The Grant Officer, supervised by the Director of Education, is required to administer small education and medical grants for refugees that StARS provides. Responsibilities Day-to-Day To review education grant referral forms. To assess education forms according to the grant criteria. To give information and recommendations to the decision-making panel. To keep people informed about the progress of their forms. To administer grant payments and to make sure receipts are returned to StARS. To support a caseload of grant holders and monitoring their progress. To keep accurate records of applications and payments. To acquire sound knowledge of the education system for refugee children in Egypt, including on different schools, CRS grant systems, etc. and to keep updated on developments in this regard. To assist the Psychosocial Program in administrative tasks related to medical grants. Other tasks as assigned. Technical To communicate with other StARS programs on issues regarding grants. To liaise with clients and community schools principals on issues regarding grants. To network with other organizations providing the same fund. To assist accounting, reporting, and other administrative processes to ensure successful execution of grant process. To monitor paperwork and other related documents connected with the grant form. To maintain records of all payments and receivables receipts and prepare monthly record for all grants. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements English being the official language of UNHCR Cairo as well as of StARS, the Grant Officer must be fluent in both oral and written English. Furthermore a high level of Arabic both in oral and writing is required. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Proven skills in MS Office, suitable for working with large databases and production of StARS materials. Ability to effectively manage competing demands. Previous experience in an administrative role preferred. Hours: 40 hour work week (Sunday – Thursday) and other hours as required. Supervised by: Director of Education Salary: EGP3,900 per month after successful completion of a three-months’ probation period (initially 3,600 EGP) (plus EGP175 monthly medical allowance and EGP50 monthly pension contribution).
