Montgomery County Hearing Voices Network and Creating Increased Connections
Present
Montgomery County Hearing Voices Network Group Facilitator Training July 12-14th, 2017
Application Hearing Voices Movement started in the Netherlands in the late 1980’s promoting a new way of understanding the voice hearing experience. This new way of approaching living with a hearing voices experience is widely accepted. The Hearing Voices Movement and the representing networks are committed to providing spaces where voice hearers can feel safe to talk about and find meaning in their experience. Today, there are hundreds of hearing voices support groups throughout the world. The Hearing Voices Movement and MCHVN understand hearing voices as a common human experience. Not all voice hearers experience voices as distressing and a voice hearer does not necessarily carry a diagnostic label or have received formal treatment. We encourage all interested persons to apply. We are seeking persons who . . . 1. Self-identify a lived experience of hearing voices – hearing, seeing or sensing things that others don’t. 2. Have experience participating in and/or facilitating a mutual aid group, or other group that promotes wellness and recovery. 3. Have knowledge of the Hearing Voices Movement and that hearing voices is a common human experience. Possible sources: a. having attended a training on hearing voices, b. having attended hearing voices peer support groups c. self-learning through internet, peers, personal stories or other relevant sources 4. Have intentions to facilitate a hearing voices support group.
