Local 107.3 FM Internship Signup Sheet 2018 - Winter WHAT’S LOCAL FM? Local FM is a volunteer driven campus & community radio station now in its 17th year broadcasting on the FM dial from right here on the UNBSJ Campus. As a C/C radio station we specialize in broadcasting new, emerging, and independent Canadian artists. We also air niche and cultural programming. Our volunteer programmers create a vibrant, diverse, and unique alternative to commercial radio stations. We encourage all UNBSJ students to get involved, and we want to hear as many of you as possible on-air, hosting your own programs. If doing it live isn’t for you, there are so many different tasks - all crucial to our operations - that aren’t connected to a live-on-air role. So take a look at the following positions and pick the one that appeals the most to you! *Please note that some positions have a limit on internship spots available. We can’t guarantee any spots, and encourage all applicants to consider 2 or more positions.
WHAT POSITIONS CAN I APPLY FOR? Programmer Do you want to develop and host your radio show? Then grab a program proposal, fill it out, and share it with us! Your internship could be done solely by producing live radio. Your show can be about any topic that you feel passionate about, from film, food, arts, culture, sports, music anything under the sun! Music Department (1 position available) A C/C radio station receives a lot of CDs. A lot. The music department intern will work alongside our volunteer music coordinator to organize our music library, curate our library according to our mandate, and review new additions for our programmers and website. This position will expose you to a lot of new Canadian music, and can be fun for the burgeoning music critic/aficionado. Production (2 positions available) Produce event promos, adverts, and Public Service Announcements for Saint John! These segments are roughly 30 seconds in length, air between programs, and are a vital component in our relationship with the wider community. Interns will be taught how to record and produce these segments with our equipment and are encouraged to experiment with production. Graphic Design (1 position available) From our website to show posters, to newsletters and manuals, a radio station needs a lot of graphics! If you have an interest - or experience - in graphic design, this could be the position for you! Our graphic design intern will be expected to help produce templates for manuals,
forms, and other items; as well as creating logos, and other items for our posters, website, and social media. Special Content - 52 Fairytales (2 positions available) One of the most enjoyable things about C/C Radio is the opportunity to create a large project that will positively impact the lives of listeners. This year, Local-FM is very excited to roll out our 52 Fairytales project. The goal of this project is to produce a weekly bedtime story show for the children of Saint John. These productions will be read, recorded, and produced by a wide cast of volunteers, and we’d love to see UNBSJ ICS Interns involved with that. These positions will be tasked with producing at least 6 episodes (each) for 52 Fairytales. If you want to flex some creative muscles, and work on your spoken word delivery, you should try this out. How Do I Apply? Just fill out the sheet below, as best as you can, and drop it off at the station (Room 235 in the Student Centre) or email it in to
[email protected] by Monday, January 22nd. Once we’ve received your application, we’ll take a day or two to review it, and will respond directly to you.
