    Membership  in  the  PHDA  is  required  in  order  for  a  dancer  to  compete  in  the  Winter   competition  and/or  participate  in  any  association  sponsored  workshops  that  may  be   held  before  the  membership  expires.       Membership  purchased  for  the  Winter  competition  expires  on  April  7,  2017.   Entries  must  be  mailed.  No  entries  will  be  accepted  sent  electronically  or  hand   delivered.   Entries  postmarked  after  January  16,  2017  will  be  assessed  a  $10.00/  family  late  fee.   No  entries  will  be  accepted  that  have  not  been  received  by  January  23,  2017.   Any   dancer   who   changes   categories   after   submitting   this   entry   form   must   notify   the   PHDA   Competition   Organizer   of   the   change   no   later   than   six   days   before   the   competition.  Failure  to  do  so  will  result  in  that  dancer  being  first  to  dance  in  the  new   category.

    •   PHDA  dance  competitions  are  run  under  the  rules  of  the  SOBHD.   •   Competitions  are  open  to  any  registered  dancer  and  are  not  geographically  confined.     •   Dancers  must  have  a  parent  or  guardian  who  is  a  member  of  the  PHDA  in  order                  to  compete.   •   Dancers  18  years  of  age  or  older  may  hold  their  own  PHDA  membership.   •   Dancers  will  pick  up  their  numbers  on  the  day  of  the  competition.  None  will  be  mailed.   •   All  dancers  must  show  their  FUSTA/SDC  cards  when  picking  up  their  numbers.   •   Beginner  and  Novice  FUSTA/SDC  cards  will  be  collected  and  returned  after  awards.   •   First  to  enter  will  be  last  to  dance.   •   Last  to  enter  will  fill-­‐in  for  the  Reel  when  needed.   •   A  dancer’s  age  will  be  determined  as  of  date  of  each  competition   •   Pre  Premier  Classes  will  be  divided  after  the  closing  date.  PHDA  reserves  the  right  to   make  changes  on  the  day  of  the  competition  if  necessary.   •   Premier  Classes  will  follow  the  USIR  age  groups  as  nearly  as  possible.   •   Any  dancer  not  ready  when  an  event  is  called  may  forfeit  that  event.   •   All  judges’  decisions  are  final.  A  $20.00  fee  must  accompany  any  written  protests  and  be   submitted  by  the  end  of  the  competition  day.  The  PHDA  Board  will  determine  the   outcome  in  a  timely  manner.   •   $5  from  each  membership  will  be  donated  to  USIR  2017.   •   Any  dancer  who  changes  categories  after  submitting  an  entry  must  notify  the   Competition  Organizer  no  later  than  six  days  before  the  competition.  Failure  to  do  so   will  result  in  that  dancer  being  first  up  in  the  new  category.   •   Engraving  of  PHDA  perpetual  trophies  is  the  responsibility  of  the  winners.   •   NO  refund  for  entry  fees  unless  competition  is  cancelled.   •   Entry  fees  are  non-­‐transferable.   •   Good  sportsmanship  is  expected  from  all  dancers,  parents,  teachers,  volunteers,  and   attendees.

Portland  Highland  Dance  Association   Winter  Entry  Package   USNW  -­‐  0309 Special  Events  and  Scholarships   •   Primary/Beginner  Debut   Designed  for  dancers  who  are  not  quite  ready  to  compete  but  who  would  benefit   from  a  performance  opportunity  at  one  of  the  dance  competitions.  No  entry  fees  are   required.    There  will  be  no  judge’s  critiques,  prizes  or  participation  gifts.  Dancers   may  debut  at  only  one  competition.    Dance  teachers  will  contact  the  competition   organizer  with  names  of  students  ready  to  debut.       •   Pre  Premier  Workshops   Following  the  competition  there  will  be  an  hour-­‐long  workshop  for  Pre  Premier   Dancers.    Cost  per  workshop:    $15.00  per  dancer.  $5  of  registration  fees  goes   towards  USIR  2017.  There  will  be  a  separate  registration  form.   •   2017  Premier  Workshops   Premier  workshops  will  be  held  on  Sunday  January  29th,  2017  and  Sunday  April  9th,   2017.  $5  of  registration  fees  goes  towards  USIR  2017.  There  will  be  a  separate   registration  form.    

   

•   Cecelia  Buckley  Spirit  of  Dance  Pre  Premier  Scholarships   The  PHDA  Board  has  designated  that  a  percentage  of  fundraising  dollars  to  be   awarded  to  Pre-­‐Premier  dancers  in  the  form  of  dance  scholarships.  Each  time  a  Pre   Premier  Dancer  competes  in  one  of  the  three  PHDA  indoor  competitions  and/or   attends  a  PHDA  sponsored  workshop,  the  dancer’s  name  will  be  entered  into  a   drawing  to  be  held  at  the  spring  competition.  The  PHDA  will  award  a  minimum  of   two  scholarships  annually.   •   NW  Regional  Representative  Scholarships  (Premier  Dancers)   A  dancer  who  qualifies  to  represent  the  NW  Region  at  the  USIR  is  eligible  for   Regional  Representative  funds,  if  that  dancer  is  member  of  the  PHDA,  has  competed   in  or  coached  a  competitor  in  two  PHDA  competitions  during  the  year.
