IN THE EXAMINATION You are under exam conditions as soon as you enter the Exam Room. 

Do not attempt to talk to or communicate in any way with any other student.

Hand in your mobile phone or any other unauthorised material if you have not already done so. This is your last chance, failure to do so at this stage may lead to disqualification.

Listen to instructions. If you have a query raise your hand. Do not call or shout out.

Do not open or start the exam paper until the invigilator tells you.

Check that you have the correct paper. If you are unsure speak to an invigilator.

The invigilator will tell you when to complete the front of the exam paper with your name (this needs to be your full legal name- no-one else will see this).

Follow the instructions carefully on the front of the question paper.

Write in black ink only, unless otherwise instructed. Pencils may be used for diagrams, maps or charts. You must not use: Correcting pens, fluid or tape, erasable pens Highlighters in your answers- although you may use them to highlight questions, words or phrases within the question paper or question / answer booklet Gel pens in your answers Blotting paper / rough paper

Do all rough work on exam stationery. Neatly cross though any rough work but do not make it illegible, as it will be forwarded to the examiner.

Invigilators cannot help you with the exam. They can read the instructions on the front cover but cannot offer you any advice or comment.

If you think there is an error or omission on the Exam Paper tell the invigilator.

Read through and check your answers if you have time. At the end of the examination, make sure all your answers are correctly numbered.

You are required to stay in the exam for the full duration of each exam. Leaving the exam early may disqualify you from receiving a grade in the subject and possibly other exams.

Make sure you have filled in all the details on the front of your answer booklet, including the question numbers.

Leave quietly and calmly when you are instructed to do so.

You are still under exam conditions until you have left the exam room.

Revision and Study Exams are not designed to catch you out Examiners like giving marks to people who do what is asked of them

Before you start      

Organisation – have you got your notes? Create a revision timetable Do not just revise the subjects you enjoy the most Be specific – do not just put maths, choose a topic e.g. algebra Include breaks in your plan Somewhere peaceful to revise, free from interruptions (mobile, social media etc)

Do you know what topics you are going to revise?    

Revision Checklists Textbooks Syllabus Ask your teacher

Possible revision techniques:        

Use pictures, computers, diagrams, flowcharts, key words, posters, timelines Videos. BBC Bitesize Mind maps. Careful layout of notes Use colour and highlighters Write information in bullet points or as key words Use key word cards, post-it notes. Talk the work over with someone else. Get someone else to ask you questions. Make up rhymes or raps about work

Tips for Answering Questions       

Read the question twice Look at the number of marks available Use the space given as a guide for how much to write If you have a choice of questions, read all the questions and then decide which ones If you are stuck on a question leave it and come back to it later If all else fails-make an educated guess (never leave blanks, you can’t lose marks for wrong answers) Do not rush. It is better to plan and answer properly than make silly mistakes and then sit waiting for the end.

Finally…. Get plenty of sleep, eat sensibly, have breakfast and avoid late nights
