Federation vide letter No. IVgilPart VII dated 3010412015raised a demand for "introduction of Warning/Hooter system to prevent deathsof Track Maintainers etc., while on duty'', vide item No. 52 of NFIR's Charter of Demands.In response,Railway Board vide letter dated1610912015 apprisedfollowing position to the NFIR againstthe demand:'{As per recommendation of the Commiffee of Executive Directors of Railway Board, RDSO has been instructed to develop WarninglHooter system and made part of each P. Way Gang working in Open Line and similar conditions.A lirm has developed a protective warning system for protection of trackmen. South Central Railway has successfully done trial of the same. Similar type of trial is also being done on Northern Railway. Final decision will be taken after receipt of the report of trial on Northern Railway". Federationhowever feels that trial on Northern Railway must have been completedand the Railway Board might have receivedthe report by now, unfortunatelythe progressmadehas not beenconveyedto the Federation. NFIR, therefore, requests the Railway Board to expedite the matter and also issue instructionsto the GMs of Zonal Railways for installation of Warning/Hootersystemsfor each P. Way gang. Federationmay pleasebe replied indicating action taken as the Track Maintainers are facing risk in day to day working on tracks. Yours faithfully,
